Slick Entertainment’s Xbox Live Arcade action racer Scrap Metal won’t make you forget that there’s a new Twisted Metal on the way (or so they say), but judging from what our reviewer Jeremy Zoss had to say about the game in his review, it’s a decent enough distraction that actually differentiates itself quite a bit from Sony’s explosive franchise:
"There’s no doubt that Scrap Metal has its influences, but they’re not all as evident as they seem. While Twisted Metal is a grim series focused on car-to-car combat, Scrap Metal is a light-hearted racer in which weapons take a backseat to speed.”

Spybreak
Spaz, in Race you can eliminate your opponents with your weapons, quite quickly if they're upgraded by the way, but in Elimination Races your weapons are disabled focusing on speed.

I have been wondering about this game... but could you say that if the weapons are used correctly that speed might not be so dominant in the game... kind of like mario cart in a way?
