Perfect Dark XBLA Webpage Launches

Perfect Dark is (finally) available as downloadable content on the 360, so if you used to play it back in the N64 days, you should be excited. If you didn't, you should be more excited because you'll be experiencing it for the first time ever. Our own Scott Alan Marriott checked it out and reports:

"Perfect Dark for Xbox Live Arcade features all of the modes, missions, and maps found on its cartridge-based predecessor. Unlike the N64 game, which chugged harder than a freshman at a frat party, this version moves at a noticeably faster frame rate. High-resolution textures have also been slapped onto the 3D objects, making the environments and characters look crisp and clean. Going from the original game to the Xbox 360 version is like walking outside with a new pair of glasses: everything is finally in focus. Of course the characters still wobble like marionettes and have expressionless faces, like they've had one Botox shot too many, but there are bound to be tradeoffs."

I think everyone, I mean everyone wants Perfect Dark. Maybe that's the only reason this finally happened on XBLA. I wish more companies, developers, publishers eased up and released remastered pieces of joy like this. I want another F Zero game, it's been waaaay too long and would be a good contrast to my Forza 3 play.

    Inter-ma-resting..
I've never played any of the Perfect Dark games.
I was on the Goldeneye 007 side of the fence, during the N64 days.
..I just might check this out.

    On a side-note; I miss Rare.
They need to remake Killer Instinct..forseriously.
Have something actually go up against Mortal Kombat, for gamers' sake.
    [[sigh]]

:( I don't have an Xbox, so I cant play this on there. However, I still have my 64 and a copy of the original perfect dark, so i'll just pretend my 64 is an xbox.

This was my favorite game on the N64. I tried telling everyone I knew that Rare made a "sequel" to Goldeneye that was even better, but no one believed me. Now hopefully everyone will find out I was right. And at 800 MS Points ($10) it's an absolute steal, considering the original cart was $60 PLUS the necessary upgrade of the N64's Memory Unit. I will be checking this out as soon as the workday is over.

It's just a shame that Perfect Dark Zero wasn't that good...

I'll tell you one thing that was in the original that they left out of this version, a left-handed control scheme. Very sad.

Almost all FPSs provide this option. Do they expect left-handers who've grown accustomed to playing games like Halo or Modern Warfare regularly with a left-handed scheme to now be forced to move and look around clumsily in this version of Perfect Dark.

I had been looking forward to this game's release with nearly as much anticipation as I have for a brand new game. Very disappointed. They need to release an update with a left-handed control scheme or I'm not going to enjoy the game nearly as much as I want.

I looked at this and sed "wow that looks cool but with the price of the MW2 map pack coming out its gunna be like 2000 microsoft points."

But when i saw the price i was shocked that it was that low
when this was in its prime this was the king
    now its this cheap.....

    I love microsoft sometimes.

Please tell me you guys didn't give up your old N64 consoles. I still have my wonderful N64 cartridges for Goldeneye, Perfect Dark, etc... Back in the day the N64 had the greatest exclusives bar none. IMO, N64 was Nintendo's high mark.

But I will say that I'm very glad to see a remastered HD version of a classic like Perfect Dark - now give us GOLDENEYE HD, dammit!

I just bought the game last night. My roommate and I played till 5 in the morning. I never played the game, but i had played goldeneye, but my friend was always a perfect dark fan. Both of us loved this release and I fully recommend it to anyone.
