Square Enix has announced that PlayStation Portable owners will have a chance to experience the epic prequel to Square Enix’s popular Kingdom Hearts series when Kingdom Hearts: Birth by Sleep releases this summer.
The RPG will feature an improved battle system, four multiplayer modes and new worlds, including the Dwarf Woodlands from Snow White and Deep Space from Lilo & Stitch. The story will be split among the three main characters (Terra, Ventus and Aqua), and will require players to play through multiple times to get the full picture.
I remember being intrigued by the original Kingdom Hearts, but I never got around to playing it, or any of the subsequent sequels, so I’m not really up on how the franchise is doing at this point. So if you’re a dedicated Kingdom Hearts player, please fill me in, because I likes the learnin’.

kindom hearts is an awesome game! I've play kh1, kh2, and kingdom hearts chain of memories but have not playing kh3 yet but am looking forward to kingdom hearts: birth by sleep this summer!

@Collective_Restraint It's most likely because Nintendo needed a boost so they had 358/2. Also they probably decided to put Kingdom hearts on non-major consles *portable* because the game is not long enough & or they want toboost sales for the portable systems since the major consles have many major sales & have big games that can't be downgraded to portable systems.

I'd play any of the games from the KH series before any GoW games. Story is truly epic and people mistake it as a game for kids because of the Disney characters. I prefer following the story of enjoyable/interesting protagonists instead one about of a mass-murdering, roid-raging, suicidal, doesn't know how to please women, blood thirsty, revenge-obsessed, deranged lunatic.
My only complaint about the series ? It's already complicated enough to understand all the intricacies of it, why do you have to spread it across multiple platforms ? It would be like J.K. Rowling releasing each book of the Harry Potter saga in a different language. Just tally up the costs involved to enjoy the series in the order it's release dates :
1. Kingdom Hearts 1 : Buy a PS2 + the game using the prices from 2002
2. Chain of Memories : Buy a Gameboy Advance + the game using the prices from 2004
3. Kingdom Hearts 2 : Buy the game
4. Coded : Buy a cell phone + the game (japan only)
5. 358/2 Days : Buy a Nintendo DS + the game using prices from 2009
6. Birth by Sleep : Buy a PSP + the game using prices from 2010.
Who owns all these consoles ? What the hell ? Why didn't they stick with a single console like the PS2 then transition to PS3 especially since all the stories are linked together ! I wish they release both 358/2 Days and Birth by Sleep on PS2 at some point... This would make the series available on a single console at least (with the exception of Coded).

Im 19 years old and i think KH has the best story since the FF series....People do see Disney characters as turn offs and say the series is dumb and for kids. It really isnt, its may LOOK like its is, but trust me when i say the game is actually ONE of the deepest story lines iv seen thats takes alot of thinking and puzzle pieces to be put together. Its not just a game for kids.

Kingdom Hearts does have a deep story, the problem is the way the story is told makes it difficult to know that. There's a lot of cheesy dialogue, and cartoony metaphysics that it doesn't always come off as "real." So you have to kind of looky past the cheesy dialogue to see the events happening are a lot more complex than the whole one-dimensional he-gave-into-darkness shtick lets on.

damn i have been waiting for this i knew it was coming out but not this long . i have not been playing my psp anymore since dissidia came out. i hope they release a lot sooner . square enix is the only reason why i have a psp

The chronological order is Birth By Sleep, then 1, then Chain of Memories and 358/2 Days start at the same time but 358 Days ends right at the beginning of 2 and then 2, and finally Coded which is a Japan only cellphone game is currently the last one chronololgically

its important to play these games and not just want to get your hands on kingdom hearts 3, from what ive read and seen of this game it explains so much of whats going on in the KH universe and in my opinion you cant get the full picture of KH without playing all of them.
I cant wait until the day i can play all of the kingdom hearts games and see the ENTIRE story (because you wont be able to by just playin 1,2,and 3) in their chronological order:
Birth by Sleep, KH, 358/2, Chains of Memory, KH2, Coded (if it ever comes to U.S), KH3

FINALLY!!! if it took them this long to release Birth by Sleep for the PSP imagine how long it will take for them to announce KINGDOM HEARTS 3!!!
