Gamers: A bunch of new maps are coming out for Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 on March 30th. Included in the "stimulus" pack are three new multi-player maps and two maps from the original Modern Warfare. Good news, right? Er... maybe not.
How much would you pay for three new playing fields and two slightly used ones? $5? $10? Both wrong. Instead you'll be dropping 1200 Microsoft Points for Xbox 360 gamers also known as $15. It's $14.99 for Playstation 3 players, by the way, and it won't be out for you dudes for another month.
The news was announced on Major Nelson's podcast, and as you might expect, the immediate response from gamers was along the lines of, "What do I look like, J.P. Morgan or something? Fifteen bucks for some lousy maps??"
I am a well known plutocrat with unlimited funds for game and helicopter purchases, so I don't mind, but if you're a normal person, that's a lot of dough. Fifteen dollars is nearly a third of the price of the entire game; so, yeah, it seems a bit steep. But, on the other hand, if you consider how many hours you'll play these new maps, it might be the best value in the entertainment business. After all, a feature film costs roughly that much money, and it's over in a couple hours.
What do you guys think? Are you going to be joining any "OMG! BOYCOTT!" groups that that are certain to spring up over the next week or so? Or are you going to get these maps? Perhaps you're like me, and don't really favor multiplayer gaming?

You know what's funny? When the maps come out for PS3 in a month they'll probably be the normal $10. You Xbot goofs are getting stiffed by MS again. MS obviously paid to have the maps first and are now charging the users an extra 5 spot to make it back. Do yourself a favor, go buy a PS and save yourself some money. It'll pay off in the long run

i think its gonna be $10 in 30 days once it comes out for PS3.
Also look at GOW 2 5 flashback maps came free and $15 got you 7 maps and a new single player level

i think the map pack could have that castle prision level and the virgina shopping district but i hope those old maps dont suck and yeah WTF!! with 15 dollars man show a video like flag runner for faavela, it will remind us why we love this game.
P.S. ------ I will buy it but just for future refrence make map packs bigger for 15 dollars

Thanks to STEAM and IWNET, PC players will have to pay for the DLC too.

There's nothing wrong with this price. Granted the map pack for CoD4 was, but those maps were TERRIBLE, and the two maps they're bringing back from CoD4 is a great idea. They need bigger maps and that's what 4 had. I've been playing BFBC2 for the past week, giving me a break from MW2., but oncd the map pack comes out on the 30th I'm going right back to MW2.

im going to get it because im a sucker. what two old maps are they going to be. hopefully they will fix the respawns and glitches. give us zombies man.

I havn't bought Battlefield 2 yet but after i found out these MW@ maps were gonna be 15 dollars I sold my MW2 and am picking up Battlefield tomorrow.
MW2 multiplayer is fun, but has terrible limitless amounts of glitches and the spawning is probably the worst i have ever experienced in any game. I'm supposed to start a new match facing and aiming directly at an enemy player? I think not. Or the awesome Hey, i just spawned into a grenade or a predator missle or incoming fire. To much crap for me and now this 15 dollar map pack is the final push to make me jump ship

Eh kinda makes sense for $15 for 5 maps. So I will get it to kill a month till the HALO REACH public beta hits, after that COD MW2 isn't going to see my X-Box again!!!

I would like them to mention if these maps will work for 3rd person. Sure would be nice to know these maps would work for me since I only play 3rd person. It would not be very cool if I spent $15 only to find out the maps only work in 1st person games.

Regardless of the price, which is obviously something you can choose to either pay or not pay, I love the game and new maps are what keep it fresh. Despite it's problems it's still a sick game, we all want something cheaper or justified, but sadly the world doesn't seem to want to work that way.

...looks like il have to place my copy of MW2 on ebay. After the Glitch fest .......and lack of dedicated servers and now they want to sell me a map pack????? for 1200ms points....and only 3 maps are original. 3 maps where i cant blow up a simple wooden fence!!!!!

It's amazing how may people are flipping out over the price. First it's only 5$ more then the CoD5 map packs but with two more maps. And alot of people are complaining about no spec-ops missions, no one cares about spec-ops. I hate people try to say bad things about MW2 just because it gets too much hype. It's the best game ever made and every new CoD will become the best game. Stop complaining about it and go play single player on another game because no multiplayer compares. I just bought BF:BC2 and i'm just hoping it doesn't get boring before the MW2 maps come out. That's all you can ask for out of an average game like that. Good features in it but gameplay sucks like all the BF's. CoD>Everything

lol 15 dollars? nah im not dropping that much on 5 maps total.
throw in some spec op missions or something for that price, but thats just me, im sure it will sell bajillions...so who can fault IW/ACTIVISION/MS
