with all the hype about 3d gaming and digital games (i.e. OnLive), do you guys think we will still have the hard copy of a game or do you think the disk format is going to die out.

i really like to have a disk that i can put in instead of waiting for a game to download

I recently had to do a research paper for my E-Commerce class. My topic was on digital distribution, more specifically with video games and DLC and the various other forms. While researching I came across a curious article on the vary thing and the article talked about Steam and comparing what you buy there over the physical copy of a game. They showed that you not only buy a game for more than the full price of a physical copy but you don't even own the digital copy you have. My question then is this, do you think that digital downloading and purchasing of a video game, a full triple-AAA title, is ever going to be the only way to buy games in the future, or do you think there will always be a need for a physical copy of a game? Or do you think we should be able to create our own physical form of the game, such as burning the game to a disc and being allowed to play that way?

The Sony motion controller is a gimmick that I believe will be held down by the fact that they already have another controller that ships with all PS3's. I was wondering wether or not you think Sony would be better off spending time and resources on a market in motion technology, as opposed to focussing on there already strong and passionate audience of core gamers and Blu-ray viewers?

Do you think that Brent Fox, and various others, are right in making the conclusion that Gamestop is on it's way out? I know that digial downloads are very popular, but it seems that there are too many factors, i.e. storage space and the apparent ease with which downloaded games and content become unavailable to the consumers for this to be true. I for one would rather have a disc that I can play anytime than 100 Rock Band songs that can't be verified.

I look at sony move different than other games. As a pc gamer i find i have better targeting in FPS with a mouse. I see sony move as a chance to bring that type of accuracy to console gaming. Do you think this could be used to help move more gamers like myself to console for FPS?

With many current RTS's trying to pull in the "casual" gamer by porting to the xbox 360 and playstation 3 and also dumbing down the game play mechanics, Many of the hard core gamers are lost in the fact that thewere as before there were 50 units but now there are 15 feel alienated and the casual gamers are just not interested in the game. Do you think that the trend of dumbing down games to pull in casual gamers will spread to other genres like FPS and RPG so that say Fallout 3 will get down to 2 or 3 weapons so that the casual gamer doesn't get overwhelmed or do you think franchises like Command and Conquer and Supreme commander will get back to theit grass root gamers that purchase there games but now feel like the game is just for pulling in as many players as possible.

Unlike most people I'm ready for a new console generation at least from Nintendo why do you think everyone's so against it the best games are coming out this year and that would mean that it's time to move on (especially from Nintendo I love my wii to death but it needs more)

Do you think there will be a baby boom like effect on the gaming industry as the people who have played video games since a very young age grow up, start having children of their own, and introduce their children to gaming? Are the sales numbers of the Wii and DS indicative of just such a trend?

With cross genre gaming becoming more common, are gamers now looking at the developers names for a reliable source about whether or not they will like the game? Are developers now limited to one type of game due to their reputation?

With your impression of Move and Natal, do you guys believe this will extend the life of our current systems. Have we just begun to see more potential from our current systems or is this a push to sell a few more units before the PS4 and Xbox ( insert random # here) steal the lime light.

I have all 3 systems in my house and a question has started to ruminate within my head. With the creation of motion controlled games by both sony and microsoft, how is the wii going to keep moving forward? It is currently the least used platform in my house and 3rd party game developers have not been able to sell much on it. What is it going to take to make it a vital platform or is the Wii already past its usable life? The expressed worry over the other M title is less worrying then the fact there are no triple A titles coming to the Wii that are not nintendo owned. I would hate to doubt nintendo but with a lack of play value it is starting to look like the costliest system I own.

I've accepted that the PS Move is basically just Wii HD. With that said, I foresee a bunch of prettier, pricier, yet equally just as crappy Wii like shovelware games coming at us in the near future. Do you guys agree, or do you think that Sony will do something to curb the crap games? And if you do think they will, what are you smoking!?

With Halo: Reach coming out this year, what sort of changes do the folks at Bungie need to make in order to make the Halo franchise the top online shooter once more.

It seems like Halo 2 set the gold standard its time as the top online shooter, but when Halo 3 was released a lot of its features (matchmaking, scoring, etc.) were not very progressive and consequently Modern Warfare stole a lot of its thunder back in Fall 2007. And ODST still seems a little outdated because you can't utilize matchmaking for Firefight. Do you think Bungie has learned from these mistakes and sees some of the features that makes Modern Warfare great?

Do you think brick and mortar stores will really be extinct sometime in the future?

Sometimes I just like cruising over to Best Buy to get out of the house and make impulse buys on Blu Rays and Video Games and get some Taco Beezie and chillax. I think impulse buying will keep brick and mortar stores alive.

With Modern Warfare 2's Stimulus pack information released, how do you feel the $15 price will do in terms of sales? I feel the price will be a bit absurd for some fans to buy.

Regarding your concerns about Metriod Other M, Nintendo has always subscribed to the belief that narrative is secondary to Gameplay we live in age now with Uncharted 2, and Mass Effect where Narrative now equals or either surpasses gameplay. I applaud Nintendo for actually coming forward adding a actual narrative. My only issue is Nintendo still adheres to the eastern philosophy of writing. Do you believe that square enix, Nintendo and other Asian companies other then capcom can make a Capable Narrative on par with the western developers?

MW2 announced the new Stimulus Package DLC will have 2 old COD4 maps in the pack with 3 new maps for $15.

My question is do you think shooter games could take a page from Rockband and come up with a $5-10 Map Unlock key to import all the Multiplayer maps & DLC from a previous games?

I know I would have sold my copy of the original Rockband a long time ago if it wasn t for this feature. I think in a time when the industry is trying to find ways to keep people from selling their games this works very well. It also brings in a little revenue and keeps the community happy with a bigger variety of multiplayer maps.

    Thanks,
    Wisco

Woot~ It's my birthday. Might as well throw down a question.

How big of a factor is the story of the game when you decide to play a game? They gameplay could be fine, but without a story you like, it can feel less important to a player to continue playing the game after they've had their fill, but on the other hand all the plans an author would make for a story may not translate well to a game. I know I've regretted picking up a game or two because of its terrible story. Do other people particularly care about the story?

With Bioware leading the RPG story front, do you think that their style of narrative (where the choices from previous games carry over), will be adapted as a more permanent approach for all RPGs? Or for all games in general?

For example GTA IV, Fallout 3, and Fable 2, all have a few moments where you can change the story. So it would be ideal for them, but there are also games where you can create your character, so it would be cool if your character could carry over to the sequels.

Things like Heavy Rain and more story driven games would be the best places for it to carry over.

Recently the community manager for Bioshock 2 announced that the DLC is already on the disc and the DLC is an unlock code to prevent the community from being split into "those with" and "those without". But because people dont like paying an optional 5 bucks for additional content, we're seeing a large amount of people angry over this. Are we going to be seeing an increase of games with content we have to essentially pay to turn on to provide more business for publishers and developers or will they realize it's better to create new content that has to be downloaded (map packs, Borderlands-style add-ons) but that can potentially split the community because some people prefer not to buy DLC?
