Just how much influence did your actions in Mass Effect have on Mass Effect 2? There were 700 plot hooks brought over from the original game, BioWare lead cinematic designer Armando Troisi revealed during a presentation at the Game Developers Conference this afternoon.
Troisi revealed that it's not feasible to let players change the major narrative direction of the game's story (whatever you do, the story's headed in the same direction), but that BioWare is always looking at the smaller details and how they can carry forward the player's choices.
Gotta wonder how many will end up carrying into Mass Effect 3...

I am surprised there were 700 choices in Mass Effect. I know there was a lot of little decision points, but they felt so natural that I hardly noticed I was making most of them. Could you imagine if Infamous was that subtle?

I finding it really hard to get into bioshock2, I don't really like the pacing of it that much. Maybe it's because I really didn't get into bioshock1. It's wierd because I usually like action rpgs. I dunno what it is, but I just don't find it that fun. I do like all the effort bioware went put into the story though.

I honestly think the ending in ME2 (depending on what you choose) should have an epic difference for ME3. No spoilers...if you chose the basic good guy ending, where you deny the Illusive Man, ME3 should be a big difficult win...if possible at all. If you accepted his offer, ...game should end with a semi easy victory...with humanity taking over the universe...I'm just saying.

If only every game was made with this much thought, and preporation. We wouldn't have any games that would make us want to smash our heads through our tv screens. Bioware has got this genre on lockdown.

Wow, Oinkness. All news has to come from somewhere, and it is inevitable that two sources will post the same thing. It's a logical idea, too, since not everyone who looks at one site looks at every other video game site. G4 is posting the news as they should be. They could do without your asinine comments

G4 is like an echo of Kotaku... Is there a feed for Kotaku's news? Hmm.. then I'd have it a day earlier..

Im sad because my Miranda and Thane are dead, I wish they could do a revive thing like they did for Shepard, but I doubt it :(

I wonder how many choices from the first game they're saving for Mass Effect 3. I'm wondering if that trinket the Consort gives you has any significance.

With this many small items adding in and the time they'll have, ME3 can and should have major main story differences if you import radically different save from ME1+ME2. It just seems like too much has happened for you to not have shaken the main story, especially you choice at the end of ME2 as it should affect the status of humanities ability to fight reapers by a major factor.

Just shows how amazing bioware is man. i have a feeling they were already thinking of ME3 just as ME2 went gold; they need to perfectly plan out the plot out to make a perfect experience for every player (as the good doctors said in their g4 interview a few days ago)

What I'm having trouble wrapping my head around is that ME3 will have to consider choices made from two games. Just thinking about all the different ways Shepard's relationships can turn out gives me a headache.
In the first game, you had a choice of three love interests. There is a possibility that the person you end up close to will die on Virmire. Then in the second game, you might choose another love interest who also has a chance of dying during the end game. If you don't go out with anyone in ME2, then Shepard simply looks at a photo of who he/she ended up with from the first game. And that's only if you finished a romantic story arc in both games! Some people didn't have Shepard fall in love with anyone in either game.
I'd like to believe that I'll see another franchise with this much freedom and detail again, but it seems like way too much work to me, and I only play the games. I can't even fathom how insanely difficult it must be for the developers.

I'm just getting into the game, but still I find this hard to believe.
After I finish the game, I'd like to see each and every individual detail that carried over.
Sounding a bit like our overly ambitious friend Peter Molyneux if I don't say so myself.

Can you guys list like half of those
