The 10th Annual Game Developers Choice Awards were handed out this evening at the Moscone Center in fabulous downtown San Francisco. I've always agreed with the sentiment that even if you're nominated, you're a winner. The Super Winners Plus, however, are bolded in the categories below:

WTH?!?
Any of the other 4 games should've gotten Best DLG over Flower.
Flower was just some random, zen, casual "Wii" game.
Shadow Complex was most downloaded on XBL.
And PvZ was most downloaded on (I believe) iPhones.
And PixelJunk Shooter (I believe) is a favorite among G4 staff.
While Trials was very well received by people.

Hell's Yeah!! Uncharted 2 is completely destroying the competition in almost every award show for months. They deserve it, that game was amazing in every sense of the word. I have played it 4 times now and I am about to play it again for a fifth time, I just can not get enough.

Seriously how did battlefield 1943 not even get nominated for best downloadable game? Hell I might've bought that game for full price let alone $10... That game is incredable.

Story doesn't really have that much to do with writing-- you can have a really cliche story but still get immersed in if it the writing is good enough and it feels real. I've heard that the sound effects for DAO were really good. Anyways, congrats to UC2 for a bunch more rewards. Hmm, anybody have a spare $350? I need this game and a PS3. Might as well make it 400 because of God of War III...

That game had one of the best stories I've ever seen in a game, and atleast earned an honorable mention

i love DAO but, audio and writing? the story was a little cliche to me and there were a lot of glitches where some of the longer cutscenes had no dialogue, whatever though. go Uncharted can't wait for God of War to get the same reception this year (he states sarcastically though both are AWESOME!)

Glad to see Batman: AA win one award. I think they should have won Best Writing as Paul Dini wrote a fantastic story as he always does with the DC Universe.

Let that be a lesson to developers: if you wanna win GOTY, don't release the same year as a new Uncharted game

Uncharted 2 is the first game i know of that started selling better purely because of its awards. I mean, initially it didn't sell much better than infamous which was also a great game, but then consumers continued to get the message. Its awards served as advertisements.

@MaVannas I'm sure Naughty Dog is tired of winning these things. I bet their GDC GOTY acceptance speach went like this:
The crowd cheers as the Naughty Dog team once again makes the long trek from their seats to the stage, this time visably worn out from their repeated trips to the podium. As they are handed the trophy, it nearly falls to the floor out of their exausted grip. After a bit of handshaking and acknowledging the crowd the speach begins. "Thank you all for this award. And the other 108 Game of the Year awards. We had to fire half of the programming staff so we have a place to put these things. Also we are cancling plans to make an Uncharted 3, because we just don't have the energy or strength to keep winning. To everyone else who made a game this year, and those who have one coming out next year- sorry we set the bar so high... We'll try to not be so completley awesome next time. It's too exausting. Thank you." The award is then place on a forklift with the rest they won that night.
Honestly, Naughty Dog did make an exceptionally awesome game. They really deserved it.
