More than a few eyebrows were understandably raised when Sony revealed that SOCOM: US Navy SEALs 4 would include PlayStation Move motion control support. Fortunately, G4 was able to track down the game’s lead designer, Travis Steiner, during GDC 2010 to find out why hardcore and casual gamers shouldn’t be quite so quick to dismiss the new gameplay options provided by Move.

"It’s a different kind of experience. One that’s very new to players. And I think hardcore gamers are really going to dig it. I think the major barrier in the past there has just been precision. But I think when the players try it in SOCOM 4, they will get excited about motion controls.”

So they got Move in the fall, and it took them until December to decide it was awesome? And they expect casual players to jump into the most hardcore military shooter with that immediate initial investment? Come on Sony, I know you can do better.

I'm so tired of the respawning games that have no weight to being killed. That is SOCOMS greatest strength in the online shooter jungle. No respawn adds tention to every game. It requires you to check the corners move with purpose and not waste ammo. The respawn games are fun and help new people learn the maps, but they just seem empty and unimportant after awhile. Small maps, 3 minute timers, and every kill counts is what I've always loved about SOCOM. The maps were small enough to cover in 30 to 40 seconds and still had plenty of sniping spots. The 3 minute timer was long enough for an intense game, but if you were the first killed you didn't waite long to play again. I need some good ole fashoined 11-3, no grenade matches. If Zipper takes that away, I will change teams.

Also map specific commands would be nice - Like Supress Red Room Alley, etc

cool - enemy squad tactics sound cool, command center sounds great, just hope it includes co-op. Also squad leader commands kind of like MAG would be nice for online.

With the 1:1 tracking capability the gestures that can be implemented in this game is
    nerd-jizzling-tastic just thinking about it.

With the precision of the move, it would be cool if they could do a grenade throw that would go farther if you threw it harder and go in the direction and angle you threw it at (maybe even add spin) In stead of just aiming and flicking like so many games on the wii. Same with a stab.

Glad to hear that you can use the DS3 and not have to buy another add on. As a PS fanboy that GDC conference sucked hard.
