GDC 2010: Motion Fighters Screenshots

Sony revealed a whole lot today at GDC 2010, along with the PlayStation Move motion control technology. One of the most interesting tidbits involved a fighting game called Motion Fighters, which allows you to get in a good workout while working over an opponent with a fight club ethic that puts you in the back alley to brawl with friends and neighbors.

Here, now, are the first screenshots from that game. Go to the Motion Fighters gallery and have at it.

I'm guessing that the controller works basically like capturing mo-cap for games. Camera tracks light and mirrors it on screen.

So my question is: Why not just give us mo-cap gloves. Or a whole suit for that matter. I'm down.

I wonder if natal will take some ideas from this and have like an ability to scan an object to be able to do something similar.

the MOVE wont come out for 6-7 months it will be better by then and its better than the Wii, and all Move games will have better graphics, and u can use the camera to see ur self in the game, Move wins

this actually looks interesting, would be awesome if they let you create yourself in the game,I like my tat (look at my avatar) going to get my a dragon on my right arm pretty soon. Would be cool if the ps eye could just scan you and make a virtual version of yourself

@friendofbud666, the reason I am being critical of Sony is they weren't saying, "hey the Move WILL be super-precise when the games/system are finally released". Instead Sony was essentially saying, "hey this Move is super-precise right NOW and you're going to see how precise it actually is right NOW". The demos weren't matching their claims, and that makes me wonder if they're BS'ing now, can I trust them to deliver what they're claiming in the Fall? If they had been underscoring that this was all pre-beta stuff and that we'd see huge improvements for release time then I might give them the benefit of the doubt. It's just that they kept saying that I should be able to see how great it is right NOW - and they didn't show me that

I am also a bit jaded because I feel burned by the Wii in terms of motion control. I was expecting precision with the original Wii Remote and then they make me pay for the Wii Remote Plus attachment (or whatever it's called) to make my Wii Remote the way they said it was going to work when I originally bought the Remote. Now the Wii Remotes do seem to work as well as the Move I saw in the Sony demo, but I had to pay 'twice' to get that. So, when people start making hyperbolic claims about motion controls I am going to really pay attention to whether or not what they're saying is matching what I'm seeing.

I have no doubt the games can and often will have better graphics and AI than Wii games, but the motion control part of Move doesn't seem any better than Wii motion control, but Sony was talking as if the motion control part was so much better.

no dude you don't get it, Its better than the wii, because its made for us true gamers who want motion controll for REAL games, not little kiddy games like the wii. Also the ps move is way more advanced then the wii

Personally can't wait to see if this also integrates well with the 3d they should soon introduce to the world.

I just realized everyone in this game i tatted up. Wonder what the story behind this game is going to be, though I don't actually buy most of my fighters due to the story. Nope, just the headlocks.

It does look great and seems very precise. @RockieOllie keep in mind that the guy demonstrating this said he would "attempt" to pull off that move while trying to not fall off stage. I think you'll have a better time with this game when its not in alpha and in your own living room. Unless that is your living room is a small stage with a drop of death to it. Which is also possible which would be awesome.

All you early naysayers amaze me sometime. All these games aren't even close to coming to fruition. I'm sure once E3 comes around Sony will display more polished titles. All it seems you people do is bash people for coming up with something. I think it still looked pretty good for what it was Pre-beta.

I thought the Move was precise, until i saw the guy @ GDC attempted to spin and backhand his opponent and it didn't work. Although it is miles more accurate on the wii, i can syll see my self waggling with his.

This game reminds me of Red Steel. Gimmicky for a bit of fun but overall pointless.

I was unimpressed by the demo of this game I saw on AOTS. They kept talking about how precise, sensitive, and lag-free "Move" is, but the game seemed to have trouble picking up some of the gamer's motions. The first time the user actually spun around a whole 360 degrees - a very big motion - the game didn't seem to be able to pick that up at all. I'd say the same for the LBP demo. The guy with the "Move" controller seemed to be having some control issues too.

I know this is all pre-release stuff, so maybe this will be improved. But the demos didn't live up to the claims as far as I could see. What I saw in terms of actual working control was not any better than a Wiimote. The games looked prettier than Wii games but the controls basically equivalent (especially with that recent Wiimote add-on). Given Sony was highlighting the control quality and not the graphics quality, I expected better control demos.

Sony was too late in coming up with this idea.... Three years too late.
I mean COME ON!! Who doesn't see this as a Wii rip-off?

this looks great. I can stop going out getting drunk and looking for fights.. LOL!! JK.. It really does like it would actually be a workout though. I know the wii boxing gets me sweating, I just hate it because it's so inaccurate, and lame graphics. This looks like awesome!!!
