Lucas Arts also announced that the game will be available on the Instant Action platform:

This may be a good indicator of more Lucas Arts games launching through the service in the near future when it launches. Very interested to see what games Lucas Arts will distribute through the platform. But props for picking up Monkey Island. Those games ruled back in the day!

Now, I'm a huge MI fan; I have been for as long as I can remember (which admittedly, since I went to an art school, can't be more than a decade or so). I've played every MI game to the point of memorization, and then played them some more. When the special edition of MI came out last year, I was thrilled to have a new version of the game, and mildly disappointed by some of the animation choices, namely Guybrush's walk cycle. However, it was still a fantastic romp and well worth the time put into it.

Getting a special edition of LeChuck's Revenge is something I've hoped for since I beat the original yet again. Just having a version I don't need to use ScummVM for would be nice, but the addition of HD graphics and voice work? Priceless.

The only thing that could improve this announcement is Telltale announcing an additional season of Tales of Monkey Island and continuing the renewed interest in the old point and click adventure genre.

Now, if I could only get HD Quest for Glory and Space Quest games...
