Whenever I see Matt Keil's silhouette on the feedback line-up makes me think of Dante from Clerks.

I'm honestly surprised you bothered talking about Final Fantasy XIII considering it seemed like a significant portion of the X-Play staff aren't fans, I'm not surprised to see that the conversation was mostly negative - it was definitely entertaining, however. Sessler's Kingdom Hearts call was absolutely amazing. It was a fun discussion, but honestly...it came off at times like you'd brought Rob in just to snicker at him for having to review Final Fantasy XIII and having played it for 50+ hours.
I definitely agree that Final Fantasy's story needs to grow up (Final Fantasy XII took some steps in the right direction - being less about character melodrama and more about various overarching schemes). I have absolutely no patience for characters like Hope and Vanille. It's a shame, because for all its fal'Cie/l'Cie gibberish the world Squeenix have created is quite interesting and I daresay the game would benefit from focusing more on the mythology and politics rather than Hope's ridiculous desires for vengeance against Snow etc.

I love this show. Really gotta come up with a question of the week, see if Adam can get my user name right.
TheBaconThief
That sounds about right for most typical Final Fantasy games, 25 hours. In most, if not all, of the Final Fantasies were slow starters for the game to get good. Jeez it took like 10 hours just to get out of Midgar in 7. And much later than that to actually pimp out your party with materia. 10 was even longer as more of the story had developed before you could really customize everyone.

Where do we submit our question's again? I wanted to submit one now that I have an avatar but I didn't see a post for question of the week suggestions.

I gotta say this weeks feedback was pretty funny.
I have to agree about jrpgs feeling kiddy sometimes... Now a days I just stick to Shin megami tensei, Suikoden and sometimes tales series. Anyway with final fantasy 13 Japan will learn that we don't like kiddy games anymore.

Dragon Age does not take 32 hours to be good, it's much less than that. Oh Matt Keil, your Dragon Age bashing always makes me laugh.
Anyway, Matt, what do you mean "give us a story that's more Final Fantasy by way of Heavy Rain"? You mean eliminate the all the sci-fi elements, chocobos, airships, etc for a more grounded murder mystery story? I'm sure, Square Enix doesn't want to alienate the Japanese gamers who continues to buy millions of copies of FF, since a story like HR probably not their thing. As much as I like playing Heavy Rain, the story isn't all that great. If it was made into a movie (I guess, it will be soon), it will be panned by the critics. It's definitely nowhere near as good as say movies made by David Fincher like Se7en or Zodiac.
Must be tough for Rob to sit there, since he seems to be the only one who like FFXIII. So 25 hours, huh, I'm only 5 hours in, got some time to go.

fun to watch lol, only thing i have to add is that japanese people like the adolescence coming into development, especially if it has an adult concept. i dont quite know why, my co-workers, students and even girlfriend like similar things but in different varieties if that makes any sense. i guess its best described by their types of manga and stories. although they deal with completely different things, almost all of the successful ones all have that kind of growing pains backbone.

Man i love this web show its consistently great. Week after week you guys have very interesting and entertaining conversations.

Damn, I messed up.... OK; I have an Adam Sessler in my life, not going into details but he is just like the Sess and his name is Jake.
People like Adam are peculiar, and that's not to say in a bad way. Does anybody else have an Adam Sessler in their life?
MarshmallowPies
I love when they talk about teenagers, I'm sixteen and it gives me a good laugh.

I have an adam sessler in my life, and his name Jake. Anyone else have an adam sessler?

Yeah, after reading the Final Fantasy 13 review, I decided against getting it for now. Maybe I'll try it out down the road, but too many changes to what I've liked about passed FF. I'm not dogging it, & maybe it's improved but I'll pass for now.
I was a huge fan of past FF & loved FF10 too. FF7 was fantastic, thought FF8 was okay, FF9 was pretty good, & FF10 was great, (Sad to say but I was addicted to that blitzball water-sphere game whatever it was). That style of RPG is kind of what I like to see in FF.
Sorry FF11, didn't have my ps2 online back then, & FF12, Civ4 killed my chances of playing you.
