Despite the recent shake up at Infinity Ward, Modern Warfare 2 fans should be pleased to know that the game’s developers are working hard on the first batch of downloadable content for their massively successful military shooter. And thanks to a recent Twitter post by IW community manager Robert Bowling, we now know exactly when said DLC will be released: March 30.
But rather than just come out and confirm the release date, IW set up a site designed to raise awareness of a condition known as "Mapathy," which is defined as a "state of indifference to old maps one has been playing for the last several months." Clever fellows.
Mapathy sufferers will be pleased to know that the “cure” will arrive in two weeks time. Hopefully, you can hold on until then.

i can't wait for this dlc. i've been waiting so long and i wonder what mpas they're going to put in. i think they should make a map in which you're in in an airplane in the sky and the plane will shake or explosions will happen or it will tip forward, that would be awesome.

"working hard on the first batch of downloadable content" get real dude...they already have both map packs done already. just squeeze 20 bucks total out of us. i wonder if pc users are gonna have to pay for it or are they gonna act like it was sponsored again...LMAO

People who didn't buy COD4 shouldn't be rewarded with their maps in the sequel. Of course that's just my opinion; but http://g4tv.com/users/bonerjam /index/business wise it's a good idea to give them a taste of the previous games maps.
I spent 60$ of my money to get a brand new game, now that i have to spend an additional 10 dollars for ''New'' maps that include maps from a previous games has me a little angry. If you knew anything about the series you would be angry too. ''Carentan'' was remastered into ''China Town''', ''Brecourt'' turned into ''Wasteland''; and now i have to put up with more remastered maps for the DLC i've been waiting for since the games release. I cannot be the only person who notices these trends.
Maybe they should make two map packs since the levels are already made. COD4 classic maps for people interested in playing those, and then the new maps that I've been waiting for.

I figured it would be some time soon. I'm busy playing other stuff but I'll be back for new maps/double xp.
knife2meetu
Any chance the map pack will include a double xp weekend???

I'm excited, the only thing i HATE is that they're tweaking COD4 maps the bring them back.
If i want to play COD4 maps, then i'd play COD4. Stop being so lazy.

I wonder what the DLC will have well of course new maps but do you think new Spec Ops missions?

Does anyone know if those CoD 4 maps are free yet? heh. Yeah I never bought the CoD4 maps not planning on buying these until the summer when they go on sale :p
This "humorous" campaign to hype the maps failed on me at least. BC2, mass effect, and AvP are my vitamin-C for this "mapathy"

I'm a fan of MW2 and in it's own right, it's a really well done/fun game. But I think the sudden rise of people losing interest in it (including myself) is do to fact that we've all been playing the same (at its core) multiplayer since COD4 and no matter how many bells and whistles you add, things can get stale sometimes. Also, the fact that it became so popular so fast this time around that it's starting to implode within itself (it's just science). I'm still hanging on to my copy so that I have some variety in the military shooter genre but I'm hooked on Bad Company 2 and I haven't looked back.
It also doesn't help that IW doesn't have the best DLC history and generally waits WAY to long to release maps and/or content, if any at all. If there is anything that Treyarch got right, it's the DLC support...and zombies.

is it just for xbox or does ps3 have to wait again

My cure for "mapathy"? Play through both Mass Effects back to back (twice) to get the full scope and results of even the smallest decisions I make, and the differences between going either way. Going with Renegade tendancies for my second playthrough.
Amazing part is, and the whole point of posting this on an article about MW2? Before starting my first playthrough, MW2 was getting a little played out for me. Now however, after playing through both games 1.5 times, I've jumped right back into it and it's fun again.
Moral of the story? Try playing something else for a while, because this is one game not to be traded in. The replay value is too high, even if you need to take a month or two hiatus...
