Sony Motion Controller Includes Nunchuk Add-On?Sony is expected to reveal new information about its motion controller at some point during this week’s Game Developers Conference. However, in classic Sony form, a few details have already slipped out, on the eve of Sony’s big press conference (which will be streamed live right here tomorrow at 7PM ET).

According to a source close to Develop, Sony’s motion controller will include a Wii Nunchuk-ish add-on in addition to the standard wand controller. This isn’t terribly surprising given that the duel-wielded controls lets developers add an entirely separate layer of movement and control to their games. Plus, thanks to the Wii, developers have had a few years of practice with this kind of control scheme, so making the transition to the PlayStation 3 should prove relatively painless.

At this point though, nothing has been officially announced, so don’t put all of your money in Arc-nunchuk futures just yet. Hopefully, Sony will make everything perfectly clear in the coming days.

Casual gamers dont buy more than one console and seeing the Wii's been out for awhile, this is a fail waiting to happen.

I will probably eventually end up getting both Natal and whatever this will end up being called, but if i could only get one (sight-unseen) i guess i have more interest in Natal because it looks like more of a system interface rather than just a controller. It will be very interesting to read these posts a year from now and see how it plays out.

Though I am not a huge Wii fan (mainly because of the Wii remote and nunchuck controller) it makes sense for Sony to release a nunchuck with the wand. If they want the wand to be used for anything other then playing mini-games that don't require much out of a player, other then flailing their arms around aimlessly, they'll need the add-on for better control options. Yes they're copying the Wii's set up for a control, but people are acting like this is the first time in video game history something like this has happened.
Though I will be sticking to my regular PS3 controller, I can see the wand bringing good party games to the PS3, which will make it appeal to the younger/family gamer crowd and might actually increase the sells of the system. All we can do is wait and see what happens with it.

    Do not want!

Better idea: instead of trying to copy Nintendo by adding on a nunchaku (nunchuk for Americans) feature, why don't they just utilize the Dual-Shock controller's SIXAXIS ability? See, connect the wand to the controller and just leave it at that? It'll give a reason to the SIXAXIS motion again...probably

For the casual PS3 users who don't have a wii, this is ok I guess.

Ah, I see future use of this in Ninja Gaiden. At least that my prediction. Other than that it is like the 3D games, waste of money until the controls are easy.

Who cares. Like anyone is gonna be playing the shovelware thats comes out for this. I wish they would just release the thing so it could bomb and we could move on to more exciting news about real games.

HALLELUJAH!!... sorry... I was just really worried ever since they first showed the motion controller at E3... I was really excited about it but was worried about how would you use control such as moving ur character in the game with just the wand itself.. so i'm glad to know that it's going to have a second thing kinda like the nunchuck.

Yet another controller to try out on my PC with Glovepie! If this one is more accurate than the Wiimote I bought for use on my PC, then I may even fork out the money for it to play more FPShooters on my PC. Until then, I'll continue to use the Wiimote I bought for FPS games on my PC (except Mass Effect2 that doesn't want to work for some reason, maybe I need to use PPjoy with Glovepie...).

If you have a Wii and a bluetooth adapter for your PC, then check out Glovepie to use the Wiimote motion+ as a mouse for windows to play games with a true 3D controller. I also threw together a script made of a few others to use for first person games which can be found in the forums of glovepie. Look at the Wiimote section and the post for a battlefield 2 script to find it.

Now that i've finally got a used PS3 for cheap, this will be great if the software support is there for it.

This isn't right. I remember seeing the new desgin for the controller about 6 months ago and it looks amazing. here is the link:
