Rock Band Network Live

Whazzup, Rockers? Well, I'll tell you "zup:" The Rock Band Network has finally gone live. The Network, as you may know, gives legions of musicians the chance to create their own tracks for Rock Band and Rock Band 2 in exchange for some hard work. Over 100 new track are available for gamers to check out, so fire up Rock Band or Rock Band 2 and check 'em out.

The idea of the network is to create a forum for lesser-known or more niche-oriented bands to get their music in front of an audience who might appreciate it, and judging from the slate for songs announced at launch, the plan is working great.  Among the highlights from day one are tracks from industrial band KMFDM, sensitive indie darlings The Shins, Irish-roots rockers Flogging Molly, poetic alternative gods The Hold Steady, prog-rock dinosaurs Marillion, guitar hero Steve Vai, nerdcore granpa MC Frontalot and internet favorite Jonathan Coulton. Truly, there's something for every taste, from straight up hip-hop to Cookie-monster metal.

Future artists coming to the Network include Flight of the Conchords, The Smashing Pumpkins, Twin Atlantic, All That Remains, Clutch, Prong, The Gaslight Anthem and many more. Check out the full list of currently available songs under the cut.
