Sony just announced that SOCOM 4, the latest installment in Zipper Interactive’s acclaimed tactical military shooter, is not only officially in the works, but it will be released this fall.
Details are understandably few at this point, but Zipper community manager Jeremy Dunham posted the following description over at the PlayStation Blog that should get SOCOM fans’ pulses racing:
"A militant revolutionary has unexpectedly seized control in an important South Asian country. As the Ops Com, your mission is to command an elite five-man squad charged with stopping his aggressive agenda before it’s too late. In only six days, you must lead your team through a hostile jungle and urban environments against an army of well-armed rebel insurgents that completely outnumber you."
Dunham goes on to assure fans of Zipper’s massive online shooter MAG that just because SOCOM 4 inlcudes a hefty 32-player multiplayer component doesn’t mean Zipper will be abandoning support for their first-person shooter.
"We’re still fully committed to supporting MAG for a long, long time, and the addition of another game in our lineup doesn’t change that."

Hey, can someone plz help me with how to get online in FTB3? It seemed they really focused on multiplayer online gaming but i can't connect to the server. I downloaded the thing they give you but it keeps saying i need to download a patch via XMB... HELP!

IM EXCITED ABOUT SOCOM THOUGH SLANT SUX SHYTED ON THE LAST ONE ..
PLEASE NO MORE OLD MAPS ..YES I LOVED THEM BUT I DONT WANT TO PLAY THEM ON EVERY SINGLE INSTALMENTS....THEY CAN COME BACK LATER AS DLC.

My hope is that this game will actually be good. The last one was a disaster.

FIX the mulitplayer and bring back some old maps for the "vets" of SOCOM. Single player missions is a plus but the multiplayer sure needs a face lift. Just start off where /6 left off.

Guess I could step away from Halo:Reach to play this. For awhile anyway.

The only thing this will work again like the good old days if this is true
1) No online only crap, Single player must be there. (That's why the Past socoms was successful)
2) Online must be stronger (no bugs, glitches, etc)
3) Playable (trying to get a single trophy from socom:confrontation hell even for any bronze)
4) Ranking and respawning mach (If you play a round, you will be dead around 5 minuets by a hacker trying to get a fair kill and then have to wait till the rest of the 30 min are up or any team dies first )
I still have faith in the socom name but they need to work hard.

I haven't played a SOCOM since part 2 was released. Is part 3 worth picking up after all the patches and everything? Is there decent single player in it as well?..

Socom 4 I feel will be an amazing game. Zipper I feel learned a lot from the Feedback of Mag, as well as the latest Socom game. Very, very, very excited!

So....Is this game really going to be by zipper or is it going to be a zipper badged slant six production? How the hell does zipper find time to create MAG and then crank out a new socom. Zipper good, slant six DIAF.
In the end, it doesn't really matter. The "old school" SOCOM players(SOCOM I & II diehards) will rip their game to shreds.

An epic single player, coop, and online that feels more alike to SOCOM II but still have the ability to customize weapons from SOCOM 3/CA/Confrontation which wasn't that great but more or less OK to me.

sweet - It's been known that Zipper had 2nd dev team working on Socom game. Oh sweet, I cant wait, game of the year 2011 no dought.
Confrontation and MAG are my fav now, this will be the best of both, Hope it's Socom with the objectives that build like MAG.

i won't take my chances buying my heart was broken after SOCOM 2 (THE GREATEST ONLINE GAME EVER MADE STILL)... I'll rent it and see what they've done now.

I hope the new Medal Of Honor and this game don't come out to close together. I would want to play them both but maybe not in the same month.
