Buried somewhere in the middle of an over 100-page Security and Exchange commission filing by Activision is the news that Blizzard is working on more than one new Diablo game.
Sure, we all know Diablo III will be coming out sometime in the (hopefully) near future, but according to the filing:
"Blizzard is currently developing new games, including a new expansion pack to the World of Warcraft franchise, Cataclysm, StarCraft II: Wings of Liberty, which will be released with the new and improved Battle.net, and sequels to the Diablo franchise."
Read that? "Sequels." With an "S."
The filing could be talking about expansions, of course, and when you think about it, a successful product like Diablo is definitely going to be in constant "development" until one of the games tank and they drop the whole series... but confirmation is nice: It looks like there will be more Diablo after Diablo III.

Personally I can't wait til Diablo III comes out cuz i am sick and tired of WOW don't get me wrong it's a great games but it seems to me that all they have done over at blizzard is break focus from Diablo and yes even Star Craft and just worried about WOW and all it patches and expansions which is a crock of B.S. , I mean come on...wasn't a year or so after they released Lords of Destruction Blizzard said that they were already starting work on D3? I just hope they don't do what they done with wow pay to play and all the pointless dailies in furture games of it i know Blizzard won't do it on D3 but still there is really no good reason for....,but BRING BACK HELL COWS OR A HELL COW LIKE LVL.

I wouldn't be surprised that they envision more sequels/more content for the Diablo IP considering how successful Diablo II was.
Drop_Six
Given how long this game has been in development, I would hope that they were making more than one sequel.

Expansions to Diablo 3 probably
Return of some of the classic Diablo 2 classes maybe?

This is all if Activision does not decide to claim ownership over Blizzard also.

I think we're looking too much into this. I sincerely doubt blizz is *currently* working on more than one stand alone diablo title. Mbook is probably right, they're going to do the samething with diablo that they're doing with SC2 and it's expansions.

How's about a release date instead?

Anyone else still pissed about the way the art is going in this game? I know i won't be playing it...it's not Diablo to me :-/
Scrapnoid
DiablO not DiablE....it was a Typo (or TypE?)

Who knows, but I'm hoping the "s" refers to multi-platform releases of Diable III. Would love to play that on XBox Live for example. Anyone? Anyone? lol

Diablo III as a few have already pointed out.
As for the plural reference to Diablo III I do not think is a mistake. I can't remember which announancement it was but they clearly stated their intention to release Diablo III with future expansion packs, and I believe this plural reference to merely reinforce what we already know. There will be Diablo III, and future expansion pack(s).

mbooks is probably right. Their is a good chance it would just be something episodic like SC. Or just indicated the plan for an expansion. Hopefully it just means more awesomeness!
Any chance we could convince Blizzard to revisit the idea of the StarCraft Ghost game? I was so bummed when that didn't come to fruition.
ScrubsMcGrubs
Seems like a mistake (the plural). I would think Blizzard knows better not to release similar games right next to each other and if it got out that they were holding back content from Diablo III, for use in a future expansion, there would be massive backlash...
mbooks
Or it could be that their new business model is to release their single player titles in an episodic fashion like they're doing with the Starcraft series.

"we all know Diablo II will be coming out sometime"
Did you mean Diablo III? DIablo II has been out for 10 years...
