The return to Rapture is off to a good start for Take-Two Interactive's bottom line. BioShock 2 has shipped more than 3 million copies, according to Take Two-'s first quarter fiscal 2010 results.
It's worth noting that's that 3 million figure is shipped, not sold. We'll have a better idea of where BioShock 2 is at after the NPD Group numbers are released later this month, but shipping 3 million is a good indication that consumers are quickly latching onto BioShock 2.
By comparison, BioShock sold more than 4 million copies. Again, sold, not shipped.
Still, it's good news for Take-Two, who has publicly expressed interest in more BioShock games.

Sheesh. Unless some combinations of words using a "/" between the two words creates an alternate meaning that is some form of slang for profanity or when "multiple studios" immediately precedes "to finish" then I don't get G4s filter.

of "this wasn't made by the original team or company (granted there were people who worked on the original involved), it had red flags during production (multiple studios), it's the sequel to a much beloved game, etc. etc. and guess what, it doesn't stink" then I could see a 4/5. To me, those reviews seemed more like an acknowledgement of relief than quality. And it's true, the game doesn't stink and it WAS a relief that the Bioshock name/experience wasn't tarnished. However, I can't help but think how I would have felt if this HAD been from the original team/company and I feel the disappointment that I kept pushing down while playing Bioshock 2 creeping up and if I ignore that "whew!!" feeling of someone else not having messed up one of my fondest gaming memories, then my overall impression is much lower. If this were shorter, condensed down to the first and the last hour of the game, released as an add on pack, I would have a lot more praise for it. Recently we have seen companies raise the bar for expectations of sequels (Mass Effect 2 and AC II for example) and for me, Bioshock 2 didn't meet that bar. As is, it was a bittersweet return to the world I once knew.

Okay, let's try breaking it up:
I've been waiting to comment on this game until I finished it (my personal peeve is people who critique/praise a game when they haven't even played it) and here's my thoughts: if looked at it from the view I feel most reviewers took (G4 staff included)

My post keeps getting blocked because of profanity???? I've sent a copy to the moderator as I am completely dumbfounded. The heaviest line in there is "it doesn't stink"

I bought the special edition of Bioshock 2 the day it came out but my Xbox 360 got the RRoD last week and stopped working.

I'm really glad Bioshock 2 is doing well, but, I am kind of hoping that this will be the last one. Don't get me wrong: I'd love to see the same team revisit System Shock or even an entirely new IP as a spiritual successor. Personally though I think its time to let Rapture rest at the bottom of the Ocean. Not all series need to be trilogies and Id rather not see the brilliance of the series tarnished by Bioshock 3: The quest for more money.

Funny, all the limited editions are still sitting on the shelves and many cases I am seeing them for as long as 60.00 already. Guess companies dont understand even a good C.E. isnt worth 100.00.. People really dont pay more then 70-80 dollar MAX
