Ubisoft announced today that the public beta for its upcoming World War II-era, real-time strategy game R.U.S.E. will hit Steam on March 9.
There won’t be any signing up necessary to participate, meaning that anyone with a Steam account will be able to take the game for a deception-fueled ride a few months before the game hits shelves. The game is also being released for PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360, but no word yet on when/if console owners will have a chance to get in on the beta.
Ubisoft held a VIP beta back in December, and it brought about a number of changes to the game. For a rundown of some of these alterations, check out this new developer walkthrough:

I'm new to G4, how do I get a "Steam" account to be part of the beta for R.U.S.E.?

Looking forward to this game. Though I disagree and think there should be a force fire option for artillery. I've never played the game, and therefore are not sure how things are suppose to work, it seems logical to counter a ruse by bombarding an area. After all, you can always use such a bombardment as a ruse. Not to mention the pressure enemy units would be under to flee or counter from there positions, exposing themselves! That is just what great war is about. But again, I'm a supporter of everything I've read about this game and what its trying to bring to the RTS genre.
