Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2

Activision and Infinity Ward have both been publicly quiet about what happened between the two companies yesterday. It can, however, be confirmed that both heads of the studio, president Jason West and CEO Vince Zampella, have confirmed they're no longer with Infinity Ward.

Confirmation of their departure comes through updates to each individual's Linkedin account.

Infinity Ward Leadership Confirm Leaving Company

"Jason West
President/Game Director/CCO/CTO Infinity Ward
January 2001 – March 2010 (9 years 3 months)"

"Vince Zampella
Studio Head/CEO
January 2002 – March 2010 (8 years 3 months)"

If you missed out on last night's breaking news from Infinity Ward, this story should get you caught up. I'll continue to monitor the developments at Infinity Ward and Activision throughout the day.

@Juicedup14 I realy don't think that's the problem. If it was they would not have just let those two go nor would they be actively looking at going to court with it. They (West and Vince Zampella) did not (and i really cannot stress that enough) make the game. They probly had a verry minimal part in making the game letalone the storyline for it (im assuming your talking about the "no russian" mission) And even at that, they gave you the option to skip it and it did not change anything with your achievements/trophies so no one realy had anyreason to be "offended" by it.

I cannot disagree anymore with you guys. Ok so what MW2 is a GOOD game (at best when you factor out all the bugs in the game, the lack of any real solid story mode and all the glitching going on in multiplayer it's a real streach to fit it as a good game IMO) does this give these guys the right to do what ever they want to? What if like "Harlequin19" said they were dipping into the funds. Would you honestly want that person there? I understand these guys are EXTREMELY good at what they do BUT lets not all just point the finger at Activision untill we know what happend. If it comes back that Activision fired them due to something stupid then ok, lets get the pitchforks out, but untill that time, they got fired for a Breach in contract (which i would think they were selling info out or something like that) which i would have fired there ass aswell.

Serves them right for making such a terrible game.

There's something behind this other than just a simple misunderstanding or anything like that. These guys are among the best minds that Activision had in their arsenal. World at War sucks in comparison to Modern Warfare 1 or 2. taking CoD out of WW2 was one of the best things that could have happened to the series. I was not a fan of CoD before, now that I've played through MW1 and MW2, I love the modern games.

This could end up costing activision huge amounts of money, and most of their fanbase. Afterall, what else do they have going for them? guitar hero? which is total crap anyway (no storyline, and you're doing nothing but playing air guitar (I have Guitar Hero Metalica, and I'm not impressed)). Activision must be retarded to get rid of those guys.

Activision probably wanted to give all of their hard work on the new engine to Treyarch so they could throw in a few tanks and nazi zombies. To be fair at least there would be no akimbo models. Too bad for those guys but I am sure they will be working somewhere soon enough. They have the talent and one of the biggest grossing IP's on their resume.

On April 1st, this will turn out to be an epic 'gotcha' ;) Then the DLC will be released, or will that be a joke too? Hehe.

I get the feeling that now IW is gunna fall... just like every other company Activision has taken over (and promptly fired its heads) and IW will start making terrible COD games, that will never end. Its gunna be just like THPS all over again :(

Why are you all upset? MW2 is garbage. Its CoD4 with a new perk system and an assload of coding errors...

Look at fourzerotwos twitter poll over what the COMMUNITY wanted.... IW failed on all the major issues. The spawns are garbage. The matchmaking is horrid (takes 20 min to get a match with a party without half people being kicked, etc).... Tactical insertions? Really? What dumbass did not see that as a vessle for boosters.. M/L/C aka Halo Class.... The list goes on an on.

The guys must have really crossed activision, since they were willing to kill the goose who laid the golden egg.

Infinity Ward needs to get out from under the Activision umbrella. Does this mean no map packs in Spring?

Who care about DLC in a game that is so broken due to modders? Oh well. Yay Battlefield BC 2!

What they kept secret is the reason behind their departure. Neither one of them want to be part of a company that would produce the noob tube-rocket launcher-heart beat-knifing-thermal fest that is modern warfare 2.
