PlayStation 3 PS3 Slim

The crisis appears to be over, everyone. Not long after reports started flooding in that most people's PlayStation 3s started functioning again, Sony has released a brief statement on the PlayStation Blog confirming service has been restored to the PlayStation Network.

Technically, Sony did manage to meet their self-imposed 24-hour deadline.

"We are aware that the internal clock functionality in the PS3 units other than the slim model, recognized the year 2010 as a leap year," said the company in a statement. "Having the internal clock date change from February 29 to March 1 (both GMT), we have verified that the symptoms are now resolved and that users are able to use their PS3 normally."

While most machines should fix the time automatically, there are steps to take if it doesn't.

"If the time displayed on the XMB is still incorrect, users are able to adjust time settings manually or via the internet," explained Sony.

Has the issue been cleared up for you? If not, let me know.

Interestingly my Fat Boy 20GB unit was on during the whole fiasco and never had an issue.

Man I completely missed this. I was playing NFL Street on my PS2. That 6 pitch challenge almost made me break my controller. Good times. Good times......

It's too late, my PS3 already created an army of PS1's and is now trying to take over my home.

Great to hear about this, and officially from PlayStation I might add. I didn't seem to have a problem as I left mine on throughout the night of "D-Day" Still though, I left it off to be completely safe once I heard about it.

Lol, I think it's time to make another "Dear PlayStation" commercial with Kevin Butler, VP Technical Issues.

Why does everyone complain so much about one day. Its not a big deal, plus gave me some time to play my wii since my 3rd 360 died, I haven't bothered with even trying to get it fixed figure it won't help.

Hahahahahaha "Thank you Sony for fixing this up, you did respect that 24-hour deadline". The bug was going to fix by itself the next day, they didn't do anything :) That 24 hour deadline was simply to make people wait one day for the system to recover by itself.

Wow....fanboys on all sides are getting in their little verbal jabs. I appreciate Sony getting this resolved as quickly as possible. While I admittedly prefer my 360 for MP action, I would have been angry if I had lost my save data or trophies for "Uncharted 2". That game is all kinds of fun! Luckily I wasn't affected, but I hope PSN can recover the trophies and/or save data for all those that were.

I'll be playing "Heavy Rain" this weekend. I hope it rocks. :)

I'm curious to see if Sony is going to take any steps to prevent this from happening in the future. It doesn't seem to me that they did anything except tell us to wait it out.

im glad that when i started up my 'fat' 80 gig after all this mess my trophies were still intact. thankfully my MAG ones. and im glad that Sony still can provide us gamers with a superior console (albeit all hardware is bound to screw up eventually). my only problem is that when i go to the PlayStation site i can log into PSN just fine but when i go to post on the blog concerning the mishap the site acts as if im not signed in. therefore i click the wittle link on the bottom and WHAMMO. the page wont load and severely screws up. this has happened on every computer ive tried today from my home to work to school and still the same problem. any thoughts??

Well, so much for an epic fail. Sony could have sold more consoles like MS did with theirs. Oh! I just said that out load.
