We could be on the verge of a Portal or Half-Life announcement, people. All hands on deck.
Valve recently issued a patch for Portal which added a new achievement, "Transmission Received." The patch was purposely vague about what it was adding to Portal, but came the patch notes released via Steam associated with the patch included this: "changed radio transmission frequency to comply with federal and state spectrum management regulations."
Er, what? Exactly. That's most likely the response Valve wants you to have. But gamers have discovered there are 26 "radios" to discover throughout the world of Portal now, objects that weren't there before. These objects are emitting a morse code that fans are furiously working through, attempting to figure out the puzzle Valve has place in front of them.
There are also reports that Half-Life: Episode 2 received a patch, but unlike Portal, there's nothing indicating what might have (or have not) have changed. If there's something to be found, however, no doubt the frenzied Valve fans will have found it very soon.
Watch this message board thread as it develops.
Between this and the PlayStation 3 fiasco, it's been one hell of a weird day.

Is this update going to come out for the orange box or the arcade version of portal on the 360, or even the ps3 for that matter?

well I have to say ive read almost every page of that thread, so far at this moment its at 218. Its actually quite fascinating to see what these people have discovered and what they went through to find out what valve has hidden for them. These are some diehard fans thats for sure.

There has been a lot of thought that both Half Life and Portal exist in the same 'universe'.
Perhaps Gordon Freeman will stop by aperture science labs.

@Chunky_2336 - Grammar Nazi to the rescue.
"Valve did say that they are working on Episode 3, but it won't release this year :(
But I'm stoked for either!"

I'm guessing that I don't get this patch because Valve hates the PS3?

That's so cool! Valve scavenger hunt ftw.

Apparently Gary's Mod was updated as well as Episode 2. No update news other than the same as Portal, "change radio frequencies".
Aurailious
The update was for Half Life: Episode 2 as well.

This is why I love VALVe. Like Abbie once said, "I would love to just lay around their studios and be their pet"

We really have been wait for a long time now for Portal 2 or Half Life Episode 3. I just hope it has something to do with one of those.

I can imagine the PS3 thing turning into a publicity stunt for Portal 2.

Oh, I am so excited that there is something new for me to do in Portal! I'm excited to see what the impending announcement will be, but I'm also just stoked at the prospect of hearing GLaDOS' voice again...

Episode 3 yes (or at least probably)...they went episodic to keep from have people wait 4+ years between halflife games.
But Portal (and Portal 2) was done by a seperate group than the Half Life people.
