Metroid: Other M

It was already a surprise that Super Mario Galaxy 2 is coming on May 23. It's even more surprising that Nintendo of America is releasing the secretive Metroid: Other M...on June 27.

Throw some water on your face. Rub those eyes. Metroid: Other M is not dropping sometime this fall, it's not Nintendo's big winter game -- it's coming in early summer; it's coming soon.

Discuss.

GStylez80....if you want to delve into the metroid universe and want to follow story cannon then I would start with:

-metroid (either NES original or GBA Zero Mission),
    -then play the prime series
-then metroid 2 return of samus for the gameboy
    -then super metroid for SNES
    -then Metroid Fusion for GBA

I believe that is the order which the metroid story plays out in. But if you just want to play if for gameplay sakes.. I would recommend Super Metroid (as that pretty much defined that style of gameplay) and the Prime Series (if you like FPS's this is your game of choice)

the year of the wii fo sho:

    -nmh 2
    -tatsukunoku vs capcom
    -smg 2
    -metroid other m
    -new zelda

I got to hand it to nintendo, while they don't have the hardcore support that ps3 or 360 has (i got a ps3 so im covered there), they always come through with their top 3 franchises (metroid, mario, zelda). Thats why I always own a nintendo console each generation.

That sucks! It sucks that I don't have a job and those...are releasing everything at once and making me poor! But on the other hand, this is actually pretty stupid on their part, from a marketing standpoint. Remember a few years ago, 2008 i think, they released SSBB then Super mario kart wii than wii fit (I know not a real gaming title but still a big title.) within months of each other and then, what was it like from Fall 2008 to 2010? There was NSMBW but even that could have been better but if they would have spaced their titles out and put more work into them, maybe Mario Kart would would get a 5/5, not to say it wasn't good but could have been better. Anyway I'm excited but still, unless they get away from their big three for a new title or release a new consul, you get the idea...Still excited though

Wow, both Galaxy 2 and Other M are coming out on Sundays. I think Nintendo is the only company I've heard of who has done that.

aww damnit Nintendo, trying to save up for a new computer and they drop, not one, not two but THREE damn games in May-June (SMG2, Sin and Punishment, Metroid)......have you no sympathy for a man's bank account?!

Another reason I'm glad I own a Wii. A lot of the people on this site talk trash about the Wii but Nintendo never fails to give me games I want to play. While the Wii isn't my favorite "next gen" console I still find it to be great for what it provides.

With just these announcements this is one of the strongest line up that Nintendo has had in the past few years. And if the rumors come true and Zelda is the game for the winter season. This will be one of the only years that three of Nintendo's big franchises have come out in the same year.

WOW! There are lot's of great games coming out over the next couple of months and now I have to add Metriod and Mario to the list. I still have not even gotten No More Hero's 2 or Tatsunoko vs Capcom. And I want to get Alan Wake, Splinter Cell and Red Steel 2..... I will be poor before the summer is over. This Is Far From A Bad Thing!

The red light that's been on my Wii for months will turn green this summer. Really looking forward to SMG2. Now, I've never played a Metroid game before, but I'm a fan of Team Ninja and what they did with Ninja Gaiden and Heavenly Sword. Depending on the impressions given by the gaming media after the embargo ends tonight (I hear they get a hands-on demo today), I may have to look into it. If I decide to delve into the Metroid universe, any idea where I should start (i.e., Metroid Prime Trilogy, or further back than that)?
