[UPDATE: 10:30AM PST] A Disney rep just got back to me about the name change and confirmed to me that Split/Second: Velocity will be the title for the game in Europe. It's still just Split/Second here in the states. He also said that the game will be released in the US May 18.
[Original story follows below]
Disney Interactive’s high-octane, destruction-fueled racing title Split/Second has been out of the spotlight a bit since its stellar showing at E3 (it was one of my favorite games from the show), but it looks like the final product is just around the corner, and it has a shiny new name as well.
Disney confirmed to Now Gamer that not only will UK gamers be able to jump behind the virtual wheel May 21 (it still isn’t clear when everyone else will get it, but assume a few days before or after), but the game is now called Split/Second: Velocity.
Not sure why Disney felt the need to add on to a perfectly good title, especially since it makes it sound like a DS sequel or port, but as long as the game itself is untouched, it’s fine by me.
