Super Mario Galaxy 2, E3 2009

We won't be waiting very long for Mario's next adventure. How long?

Nintendo of America announced that Super Mario Galaxy 2 will be released on our side of the pond on May 23 at their media summit in San Francisco this morning. G4 will be playing it there soon, too!

And there was much rejoicing.

This MUST mean Zelda really is coming this year! Because correct me if I'm wrong but I think I remember reading on here a while ago that Metroid Other M is coming in 2011 now...So naturally Nintendo would need a game like Zelda to carry them through the holiday season

Oh and also, Super Mario Galaxy 2 has quite a bit to live up to. G4 gave the first one a 5/5, and honestly I think it was a great game and all but it was different..which I think intrigued the reviewers just because of new locations and stuff like that.

What's interesting about these announcements from Nintendo today are that they seem to leave a void for a big Christmas release, a void likely to be filled by the new Zelda. It has to be ready for the holidays, otherwise they wouldn't be releasing these other titles over the Spring and Summer.

Well from comment by Miyamoto it was originally just going to be mostly a remix for the worlds of the first. But they kept a few of them and 90% of the game is new worlds and thus levels.

Really? More of part 1 but in part 2? Hmmm, interesting.

Well they are outlining quite a few Q2 dates at the summit. It seems Nintendo has abandoned all hope that the third party developers will show up with something worthwhile. So far they have given dates to Sin and Punishment 2, Galaxy 2. At the Australian event they even said that Metroid: Other M will be coming out this summer.

I wonder what they will have for the Winter shopping season. (Which probably will not be covered until E3.)

Super Mario Galaxy 2 and UFC Undisputed 2010 releasing in the same week, looks like it'll be a fun week. On topic, Super Mario Galaxy was a big game and you could pretty much go anywhere and do just about anything. The sequel will have more of that.

Ever since Smash Bros Brawl I've stopped believing Nintendo's release dates. Last time I got excited for a big Nintendo release they delayed it so much that I lost interest in the game, and good thing I did because Brawl was a huge disappointment

Yeah, it was a good game, part 1 but I don't know, either I'm expecting Mario to ante up or just level up, or I don't know.

No question I will try and check out this game, but I don't know, getting kind of tired with Mario and his crazy adventures. Isn't there anywhere else he hasn't been? That guy has been everywhere than NatGeo, talk about living curious.

But I know I'll give it a shot, always have respect for the franchise.

Awesome, my Wii didn't get much use before New Super Mario Bros Wii came out but it looks like it will be getting even more use soon.
