Assassin's Creed II Novelization ReleasedLooking to expand your Assassin’s Creed II experience beyond the video game realm? Ubisoft certainly hopes so, as evidenced by today’s release of the new novel, Assassin’s Creed Renaissance.

The novel, which fills out the story of ACII, is already available in the UK, but thanks to Penguin Group’s Ace Books, AC lovers here in the states can now get their four-fingered hands on it.

"The book deal with Penguin, along with the recent Assassin's Creed Lineage short film Ubisoft produced, is part of an ambitious strategy to bring the Assassin's Creed franchise to multiple entertainment media," Ubisoft senior director of consumer products Andy Swanson said in a statement.

Ubisoft has had great success with this kind of cross-medium expansion, thanks primarily to its series of books based on the Tom Clancy’s Splinter Cell franchise. Given how rich and gripping Assassin’s Creed’s narrative is, I can definitely see Ubisoft continuing to support it in novel form. At least, I hope they do, because I’m a big proponent of anything that lets players live inside a game’s fiction while outside the actual game.

Don’t you agree?
