I remember when getting into the Guinness Book of World's Record was difficult. You didn't have a chance unless you smoked 1000 cigarettes at once, grew a beard made out of bees or were the world's fattest twins. Nowadays, any fool can get in the big book.

Check out the video below. In it, a group of 99 cosplayers celebrates their love of Star Trek Online by gathering together and setting the World's Record for "largest gathering of Star Trek fans dressed in character." It's hosted by a Patrick Stewart lookalike!

Geez, can I get a World Record for most blog posts made by Stephen Johnson on Wednesday? Because it's like "8," and counting. I get the feeling that Guiness has become more about marketing opportunities than it is a serious reference work for those interested in who has the world's longest fingernails.

I've put in calls to Guinness to ask whether the the group simultaneously set the record for largest gathering of adult virgins. I'll let you know what they say.
