I admit it. I'm a bit fanboyish over Fallout: New Vegas. Fallout 3 is my favorite video game I have ever played, so the sort-of sequel has me in full-on anticipation mode. Sure, it's being developed by a different company than Fallout 3, but Obsidian are awesome, and I don't care; I just want to go back to the wasteland.
One of the things that makes Fallout 3 so epic is the scope of the game: It's beyond huge, and constantly rewards exploration with secrets, surprises and awesomeness. And it's looking like New Vegas will follow in its predecessor's footsteps: Pete Hines of Bethesda Softworks said in an interview with USA Today that New Vegas "is a massive game world that will take you hundreds of hours to explore every nook and cranny."
Oh, I'll be exploring those nooks and crannies, Pete, I'll be exploring them good.
Here are more details on the game, and below is the teaser trailer:

I hope that less than 10 hours of the exploreing is finding tin cans and plates, that was most of what I found during exploration of The Capital Wasteland (or is it a wasteland ever since Broken Steel says Elder Lyons)

When FO3 first came out i thought the game was gonna be mediocre at best but when I played it I couldn't even put down my PS3 controller the game blew me away it became one of my most favorite games in my recent memory (other than Legend of Dragoon {PS2}) and i cant wait for New Vegas!

Fallout 3 is flawless and new vegas will be better PERIOD!!!!!!!

I don't know about the rest of you, but I absolutely nerd-gasmed when I saw the NCR flag

I think that everyone should be happy about 100+ hours of gameplay, would you like a campaign that can be completed in one afternoon or an entire plot line of events and twists in the story that make you come back for more and maybe even a second playthrough to see what you can do differently. I embrace the massiveness of it and I am looking forward to more trailers and interviews so we can get an idea of what the story might entail.

Obsidian is actually using Bethesda's technology, they're just building upon it. I highly doubt that this game will leave anyone disappointed.
Also, from what I've read in Game Informer: weapon customization! Now who doesn't love that? And it's cosmetic, for all you Army of Two weapon customization fanboys.

hmm looks like a remake of fallout tactics to me

I think it's great that the exploring alone will take roughly 100 hours, that just proves that the will last for a while.

Really, if you don't want a game that's going to take hours and hours to complete then may I perhaps make a suggestion? Don't play RPG's! Fallout may have guns in it but it will always be(so long as it retains its former charm)a role playing game. So, if you don't want to put any actual time into the game but want to feel like you've done something try Gears of War, lots of shooting and not a whole lot else. For the rest of us though please stick to what you're good at because if every game was a Gears Of War(seven to eight hours playthough, flashy graphics and not much to do outside of shoot 'em up combat)Then the people who enjoy a more well rounded experience may very well grow up and get lives and then where would the industry be? Diversity is key!!
P.S. I suspect that those complaining about pointless exploration didn't find the experimental MIRV in Fallout 3.

actually irrational games became 2k boston then actually took back there name after bioshock 2 was done. And for the record I can wait for this game to come out!!!!!

can anyone tell me who that guy is, its been a while since i played fallout 3 or is he not "canon" to fallout 3 at all

Well that is good. Exploring was one of my favorite parts about FO3. That and the death claw gauntlet.

I feel like I am the only one who is not a fan of Obsidian. I mean KOTOR 2 was so full of glitches and weak by comparison. Neverwinter Nights 2 was graphically upgraded, but the story was just weak as was the game compared to first. Obsidian is where good RPG's go to die. I hope beyond hope that Fallout is the exception!

Faloout 3 was very rewarding with its exploration. New Vegas cant be any worse

UGGGHHHHH Portal was a great game and I've beat it in less than the length of my Mars Volta CD I was listening to at the time. I can't handle hundreds of hours of VATS and crashes to desktop. Can't do it. Wouldn't be prudent.
