If you've been waiting to play Modern Warfare 2 because of the game's exploits and glitches, it's your lucky day: An update for the game should be live right now. The patch fixes the following issues:
- Care Package, Emergency Airdrop, and Sentry Gun marker grenades sprint speed normalized.
- Fix for "infinite care package" exploit.
- Sentry Guns: Improved placement detection, preventing cases of Sentry Guns inside geometry.
- Model 1887: Bling using Akimbo and FMJ combination now has same range and damage as non-Bling Model 1887s.
- Fixes to prevent various XP hacks (including the prevention of negative XP)
So log on to Live and fix up your game, soldier.

This is bullsh@t they have ruined the game for me and many others... I am not happy at all. plus the need to be bring so new maps out quick before they lose people and stop playing it

Just reading some of the comments i just think some of you are just cry-babies. You know what if u dont like it, go play something else, that way i wont have to listen to you complain. Its not IW's fault ppl have no life and have to hack, I think they've done a great job with the game so far. Love the fact care package glitching is fixed(and yes it has been fixed-ABX). Now this game is really great, i love the way its so balanced. This is by far the best game out on the market(would like to try Mass Effect 2 tho).

Yeah this is definitely good, but it's kind of just what it's called, a patch for the terrible crap in the game, not a permanent fix. They still screwed up when they created the knifing crap (marathon/lightweight/commando / tac knife). Also, the heartbeat sensor and thermal scope need to go. I still propose the classic MW playlist or MLG playlist. That way, all the legit players out there can enjoy a fun war game and everyone else can run around stabbing, noob tubing, akimbo ranger/modeling, and thermal scoping in the other playlists.

Halo Reach could come in and really steal the show away from MW2, online anyway. I really liked the single player on this tho, and spilt screen spec-ops was fun too. as for me ill be playing mass effect 2 and halo 3 online still. Ill try out BC2 tho

I don't think people are "hatin" on IW or MW2, i think people are genuinely disappointed.
Traditionally a new IP will have some issues, but typically those problems are ironed out in subsequent titles. How the heck did they go from the first MW (which didn't have nearly as many issues - but still glitchy) to the debacle of MW2's multiplayer.
I have friends that love MW2, and they usually suck at shooters. But in this game, you no longer need to be a decent shooter to do well. They added so many skill modifiers to the game mechanics that now any random noob can run around with [lightweight-marathon-commando +tactical knife] and get a pretty good score without EVER firing their gun...
I understand why IW did this... They wanted to appeal to ever type of player, and wanted to attract those people who aren't really into the traditional shooter mechanic. Essentially, making sure they made as much $$$$ as possible, and changing what hardcore shooters loved about the first game.
Sometimes people say: "You must suck at the game, that's why you don't like it."
Which may be true, but my KD is 1.94 with a 3:1 win ratio... which ain't too shabby.
This whole thing reminds me of the feelings people that harcore GEARS players had when GEARS 2 came out, which was: "what happened?" "why did they change it?" Epic did the same thing in that case, skill modified the crap out of the game, and ultimately ruined it. They are only now realizing the error they made in doing so...

I kind of liked the sprint speed for care packages, i didn't abuse it running around knifing, but it helped when i had to run to a safe spot to call it in.
But i'll take all of these updates, thank you IW. I was patiently waiting for this.

This might really hurt mw2 because i know alot of people who cheated with the care package and dont want to play the game now, but as for me, i think the update is much needed for a more fair playing field

You should feel pathetic about yourself if you stopped playing cod because of the care package glitch. Your that obsessed with ur K/D ratios and games won that u refuse to play. I feel bad for you guys because your way to serious and most likely are losers with no lives. That's right! what do u have to say to that!!!

THANK GOD!!! Playing with care package glitchers is very annoying...The whole game is filled with airstrikes, choppeC 130s!!! You feel like you are a small force of Talliban raiders against the huge MIGHT of the US Military. Not a second goes buy with out being respon killed...while the enemy takes advantage and takes 2 flags in domination; they leave the third for you so they know where to focus their illegally obtained kill streak "REWARDS". Luckily I got cold blooded pro, ninja pro, and a silencer...so I would just hunt the cheats down and shank them....Now back to playing...P.S. When ever people find a glitch and exploits it the whole freakin game...It really ruins it for other players!!! This is the only downfall to MW 2...Looking forward to the Halo Reach Beta!!! May come sooner!!!

IW still haven't fixed the lobby issues where some people in your group get into the match while others don't or nobody gets in and you have to restart the process ad nauseam. Why oh why were COD4 and WaW servers/matchmaking so much better? I'm leaving this game behind when BC 2 and Perfect Dark XBLA comes out. If they can fix the matchmaking/lobby issues then I might play this game again.

It's one thing to make your deadline, but when you going around calling your game thing like "hack proof" and "unexploitable" and then this happens. That's a different story.

nice that they fixed the glitches..but what about the annoying 10th prestiege lobbies? can't they fix that? i know it's not truly hurting anything..except mabey leaderboards..but it's unfair how people are allowed to do...just ply the game normally..without cheating please???!!!
