Noticed ME2 mentioned in the comments, but let's not forget pretty much ANY Bioware game romance. Aerie or Jaheira in Baldur's Gate 2, Bastila in KotOR, Ashley in the original ME and so on.
Went for Tali in ME2. It was strangely disappointing...

Shepard and Garrus was a very emotionally resonating love story for me in Mass Effect 2. Too bad there's no homosexuality in the future, unless it's with blue ladies, because Garrus has always been my favorite character, and only my female Shepard gets him.

The real tragedy hear was the oldest, most beloved love story in all of gamedom.... Princess Peach and Mario!!! I mean the guy risks his life all the time to save her, and if she isn't in the castle he goes to the next one like no big deal.

haha salem and rios. i was going to mention the lack of final fantasy relationships in there, but I guess I agree with JDarkley. It would have been too obvious.
