Ars Technica pulled back the curtain on two upcoming Xbox 360 bundles this morning; one for Ubisoft’s Splinter Cell: Conviction and one for Square Enix’s Final Fantasy XIII. While we still don’t have confirmation on the Conviction bundle, the FFXIII one is definitely a go.
Major Nelson revealed today during Microsoft's X10 event that the 250GB Special Edition will include two wireless controllers, exclusive downloadable content (Avatar clothing or something more?) and, of course, one shiny copy of one of the most anticipated titles ever.
The bundle goes on sale on March 9 for $399.

This is the anouncment we were all waiting for. What about the million people who already have an Xbox. They could have at least thrown in the Limited Edition that PAL got, but no give the americans some crappy box set that nobody needs. God I was so hoping for NA Limited Edition and we get this.

Final Fantasy will be PS3 exclusive->XIII will be a timed PS3 exclusive->XIII will be released for both consoles at the same time->XIII will have 360 exclusive DLC
And screw you too, Square Enix.

Sony has to come up with a bundle. This is one of those games people wait for to come out before making the investment of purchasing a console. Right now, the 360 has the better entry fee, if only by a little bit. Many gamers love you Sony and it hurts every single time you let us down, which is much too often for my tastes.

So, is this the solution for having multiple DVD's?

(This post may be unrelated and/or fanboyish, sorry)
I'm confused. When Netfix came to PS3 as a disk. People wined and complained how it's should pre-loaded and don't have to get up to watch a movie. Then FF13 comes to 360 with 3 disks, it's like no big deal.

I wonder if Sony will now bring the FFXIII bundle they had in Japan to the U.S. to compete with Xbox. I hope so, because that console looked so sexy and I really want to see one in person. Not that I would buy one, as I already have a PS3.

Uh, well Xero_Wing, you seem to be implying that FFXIII got bad reviews and people shouldn't be excited about it. Apparently I can't find your only source of reviews for games that you use exclusively because I have read nothing but high praise for this game. Have fun being the only dumbass not playing the RPG of the year.
Xero_Wing
there are people who still want to play FF XIII after the japanese review circulated?
REALLY?
....Can i ask why

So where's the cool game that comes in this bundle? You know what would have been a cool bundle? A Mass Effect 2 bundle. Even when FFXIII comes around, I'll still be playing ME2.

(I'm going to get killed for this but...) Does the special Xbox have 3 DVD drives for all the discs?

Playing FF13 on 360 doesn't seem right. I have every Final Fantasy since 7 (except 11) and for me they are synonymous with PlayStation. I'd rather get it for my PS3 instead of my 360 just because I refuse to play it on anything other than a PlayStation.

I don't know...it seems like everytime there's a difference between a 360 and PS3 version of the same game that the 360 versions always better. Either graphically, no frame rate problems, or no loading issues. It'll be funny if the Xbox 360 version is better lol. I wouldn't be too surprised though if it is. Blue Ray doesn't equal better game. Just more space. I'm not a fanboy by the way. I own a PS3 also. I'm going to wait a day or 2 to pick this up. After I see some reviews. Then I'll decide what system to get it for, cause I have no idea which will be better and I don't want any regrets. I suggest you all do the same.

lol you know what would be funny, if it was exclusive download of final fantasy versus xiii and at the end it says only on PS3...i'm getting it for ps3 and probably god of war 3 first tho

the ps3 had a bundle but it was only for japan it was a white ps3 and some pink vinyl of the ffXIII logo if i remember correctly
craigun
Have both systems, but I want uncompressed audio and video. Guess it's the PS3 version for me.

While I do see it as a bit odd to see the FF series on an Xbox (not counting FFXI) I do see why Square made the move to release it on multiple platforms. I mean, the gaming industry is a business after all and the Japanese gaming industry is falling by comparison to America's. A surefire way to boot sales of it's product is to make it more available to the American market which necessitates also releasing it on the console with the higher install base, the 360.
However, given the features of the bundle, it wouldn't be hard to say that they still are loyal to Sony (at least if you are in Japan). So it comes with the game, some DLC (probably outfits) and an extra unneeded controller. So what? It's a plain Xbox with the game basically. I would toallty prefer the sexy PS3 with Lightning emblazoned across the top. (Instead I would need to shove the 360 box with the picture on it to show that I purchased a FF-themed console.) But alas, it's only available in Japan where it is king. I suppose we can blame Sony for how it handled its North American launch but please Sony, don't blame us for your wrongdoings!!
I digress. Yes, it's on the 360 but I still see the bundle as poorly put together. Besides, the Versus exclusive still stands as Square's loyalty to the Playstation brand.

I don't know if the 360 can handle it. Three disks for Xbox and one for PS3? FF has always had ridiculous over the top summons and spells, and the 360 hardware has proven to be sketchy. I wouldn't be surprised if their were some issues wtih the 360 version. Also, this bundle is W-E-A-K. Plain lookin white Xbox, two controllers for a single player game(?), and an average joe copy of FFXIII. It just looks like a rushed product by Microsoft to make more money.
