There has been a deluge of high profile sequels released over the past year, and that’s not likely to change any time soon. In fact, thanks to the latest issue of the PlayStation: The Official Magazine (via Joystiq), we can now add another title to the sequel radar: inFamous 2.
The issue mentioned the follow up to Sucker Punch’s acclaimed open-world adventure game in their “Second to None” section, along with Batman: Arkham Asylum 2 and Star Wars: The Force Unleashed 2, both of which had been previously announced. While an inFamous sequel was pretty much expected, this is the first official mention of it. Obviously, Sony is keeping the tape firmly on their mouths about it at this point.
In the issues’ "Predictions” section, it says inFamous 2, along with Killzone 3 and Resistance 3 will make appearances at E3 2010, but that none of them will be out until 2011. Given that Arkham Asylum isn’t even six-months old at this point, it’s unlikely we’ll see a sequel by year’s end either. Then again, the tools and tech are in place for all of these games, which significantly shortens the development time, so I guess we'll see.
