Fable III May Use Natal Motion Controller

Fable creator Peter Molyneux is going to piss you off. Later this week at Microsoft's X10 conference, Molyneux is going to  reveal something about  Fable III that you will not like. In a recent interview, the gaming visionary said:

"There’s some very, very big things happening in Fable. Bigger than you think, and it’s going to really going to upset people. I’m really scared. When I go out and tell people what it is, they’re going to get super pissed off. They really are. But it’s the right thing to do."

Below are TheFeed's thoughts on what Molyneux may have in mind:

Jake Gaskill: The only thing I can think of that would really cause the kind of up-in-arms reaction that Peter Molyneux is expecting is near-100 percent Natal integration. So many gamers are chomping at the bit to tear Natal apart, and I think seeing one of Microsoft’s most acclaimed first-party franchises adopt Natal right at the beginning of its life cycle would provide the perfect catalyst for it. Of course, when I try to imagine what the actual gameplay would look like Natal-ized, I just can’t see it (But that’s probably why I’m not working on Fable III).

Andrew Pfister: The main things that piss gamers off nowadays are:

1) Motion control

2) Feeling like they’re not getting their money’s worth

3) Having to wait for things

I’m going to go with “Fable III is entirely episodic, and heavily reliant on Project Natal.”

Sterling McGarvey: At this point, Molyneux can say that it’s going to rain outside Lionhead’s suburban London studio, and the effluent praise he’ll heap down on each raindrop will piss gamers off in a way no one has seen before. I’ll go with “full Natal support for $100,” Alex.

Stephen Johnson: Peter Molyneux is exuberant and filled with hope and joy. He makes promises he can't possibly fulfill, then everyone on the internets-machine gets all mad, but I like the world Peter Molyneux lives in much better than the real world. In the real world, technical and budgetary limitations destroy the amazing games in Peter Molyneux's head. I hate the nattering nabobs of video game negativity who whine and mewl endlessly and will never be satisfied with anything, ever. I have no idea what Molyneux is going to announced, but I hope whatever it is makes the angry-wing of frustrated gamers furious! I hope they whine about it all day and night on the internet for months -- that's like beautiful music to me, and it means Peter Molyneux is on the right track.

Patrick Klepek: I think he's going to take his pants off and take a dump on the stage.

You won't have to wait long to find whether we're right about the Natal support, either. .X10 goes down this Thursday, and we'll have up-to-the-minute coverage of this Microsoft press event right here on G4

    A) 100% Natal Interface
    B) The Fable Series will end (doubt)
    C) Microtransactions
    D) Delay to make it 100% natal
    E) Just a big fat year long delay
    F) Peter Molyneux will tell us something that will piss us off.

    I Personally think it's gonna be F.

I could see it taking out all the elements of action from the game and making it much more point and click rule a nation sort of thing.... bad...

I think that fable 3 is not fable 3.... its going to be multiple games with different release dates like one coming out this year and another coming out a couple months after, or will be all downloadable kinda like how fable 2 is now

    eh hem eh hem..........
What he will do to disappoint everyone, since as i see it Natal will be 100% integrated into game and it will be a RTS. in which you will use your hands to pick and choice your knights ( or whatever he will call it) to fight the opposing Knights (or whatever he will call it) then use your hand to set the coarse of action they will take. This in turn will piss so many people off since it is so unnecessary that Milo will be unveiled as his next great game for Natal, then 2+ years down the line there will inevitably be the Milo AI knock offs on the Sexbox (if it does indeed come out) were the technology will be used in a way that will cause a inevitable lawsuit which will last for years and holding up Fable 5 thus pissing everyone off.

Given that Molyneux is prone to... exaggeration, I'm hoping that these "very, very big things" that will leave me "super pissed off" will actually be a minor adjustment.

Natal integration (at some level) is a given thus it wouldn't be "huge".

Episodic structure would make sense given Microsoft's digital distribution track... as well as Fable 2 being released that way recently.

I'm going to go with some kind of a plot twist that will warp what we currently know as Fable (i.e. Aliens in Indiana Jones).

    lmao @ Patrick Klepek
You buy the game and it's already been beaten and you have to buy to unbeat it.... like a reverse episodic system

I give Pete a lot of crap but I've always liked him the way Johnson states in his paragraph. He's still a dirty liar, but he just can't help how excited he gets. He's like a little kid. Thanks for putting that in words Stephen.

Well if it is Natal then MS is really going to be killing their system. Taking one of its last exclusives and turning it into a Wii game just doesn't sound like a smart idea to me. But what do I know I only bought all 3 systems and I am finding it really hard to want to purchase games for the Wii or the 360. The exclusives (Halo,Zelda,Mario) are really the only thing that is keeping me from selling them. But if this is true and they are going to start shoving this Natal down my throat then I might just get rid of it yet. I took it up the butt like everyone else with the rrod and I can assure you I will not be taking it this time. This "putting the cart before the horse" is exactly why the first system has been forgotten and the reason that you can STILL buy brand new PS2 games. They are just looking to cash in on the motion hype to make some quick bucks before everyone else does. They forgot about their first gen system, rushed their 2nd gen system, caused a huge uproar with rrod, and now want to give the system a new direction. And yeah fanboys, I know Sony is doing it too, but 2 wrongs don't make it right. MS is losing followers on a rapid scale, and this isn't going to make any hardcore gamer happy, including myself.

Fable 2 was a major disappointment, didn't meet up to the standards (Monoleux obviously over exaggerating) Fable 3 being essentially a video with some motion controls...that's just wrong.

It could be an RTS or TBS because your king and maybe you have to like control your kingdom, by building armys collecting resources and such. I don't know about any of you but I can see it happening
