Next Assassin's Creed Takes Place In Rome, Stars Ezio

The Ubisoft info train just keeps rolling today, as the publisher has revealed that the next Assassin’s Creed, which continues the story of Ezio Auditore da Firenze, will take place in Rome. The confirmation came during Ubisoft’s third quarter financial call.

Seeing as the first game ended in Italy’s capital city, this news is far from surprising, but it’s still good to know, especially since, as Ubisoft explained, it means Ezio will be taking the fight to those dastardly Templars on their turf. It’s about time too. I mean, if you don’t count the end of Assassin’s Creed II.

Ubisoft also said that the game will feature "very innovative assassination multiplayer,” and that the publisher will be putting a heavy emphasis on cooperative multiplayer in all future titles as well.

What do you think about continuing Ezio’s story as opposed to jumping into a new character in a different time period?

I loved AC2. Most likely if Ezio's partner is female that will be his wife. I anticipated that Ezio would be with that girl from venice or I forgot what it qwas but the one who was wounded by an arrow & you had to carry her & take her to a boat who taught you free climbing. *that's my name for it*

If their gonna start another one, i got some ideas. 1. Keep Ezio and add new weapons. 2. Introduce a new character who is an assassin and will work with Ezio male or female.

I actually agree with staying with the character. Atlair got some extra light with Assassin's Creed Bloodlines, which was very close to a main game as some details tie into Assassin's Creed II, and since this is possibly the Assassin's Creed II: Episodes, I don't mind sticking with Ezio as this obviously isn't the next numbered title. Even then, if you stay in Italy, why not stay with their charater from Italy? We could find out more about Ezio's reaction to the end of ACII, too. I'm curious to see what he does after that big reveal.

    Hmmm...

I was hoping for a new Assassin and area for the next installment.

But I totally don't mind continuing with Ezio and Italy and whatnot.

The story was so deep &whatnot in AC2, so I expect it to be good nonetheless.

Did it just say coop???? : O Assassin's Creed was so much fun being a 1player game that going to a coop game would be awesome! Multiplayer sounds a bit odd. . . I don't know, I just can't picture being in a city having to fight off other Assassin's (if that's what multiplayer would be for Assassin's Creed). But I'm happy to hear that there will be a 3rd Assassin's Creed. And I like Ezio so that's even better!

They can do anytime and place which means there is an endless amount of possibilities. With so many different options i doubt we will see Ezio again after this new one.

Wow this fails. I was so excited for AC3 and they decide to make it the same character and time period -_-. I was hoping for something new and interesting. I really hope they decide to just make this an expansion and not count it as the third offical game. So much for my dreams of being an asassian in Victorian London and fighting Jack the Ripper who could be a Templar -_-

    I loved AC2.
I'm all for it but if it's going to be a full priced game they need to add more than just Rome. I want to see Milan too.
And he's going to need some new toys, skills, and things to invest in.

The thing about it being Ezio, is if you remember from ACII, he is the one whose skills are being transferred to Desmond. I feel that it is more about Desmond completing his training through Ezio, than getting his mind jumbled by jumping to another ancient relative to gain more powers until he completely can control Ezio's.

Guys this isn't Assassin's Creed III. This is Assassin's Creed II Episodes. I think this article should've specified this.

I always felt that Rome under exploited, I'm happy to see Ezio's story continued as I felt bad for him at the end of AC2. I am curious about what Ubisoft has planned for mutiplayer, it won't screw the series for me, but I never thought they could pull it off with AC, I hope they can.

Is this a full release or a huge chunk of DLC? I love the AC series, but I'm not sure I feel like dishing another $60 to play as Ezio again (though I did like him well enough) for the simple fact that I was excited for the new time period this game could go. But... if it gets reviewed will I'll probably still suck up to Ubisoft

The multiplayer should involve 2 people trying to assassinate a target without being detected. I think that would be pretty cool! But, I agree with everyone else in that this should be a spin-off, should not focus extraordinarily on its multiplayer components, and should be kept in development until it is COMPLETELY glitch free. Something about this game being developed in a year is kinda sketchy to me...

Well, that throws my theory of Desmond being the main character out the window. Seriously, after the second game I wanted to see Desmond kick some ass! He was so whiny in the first game and in the second game he became all gung-ho about going after the Templars it was like Raiden becoming Solid Snake. Am I alone here?

im ok with this, as long as they make it clear that it's not AC3. co op multiplayer could work if done right, but i dont really think they could work in competitive.

I'm glad they're bringing ezio back he was a great character. I wouldnt mind exploring some other part of time thats been realatively unexplored in videogames before like the first two did but assasins creed 2 was so good I don't care.

I think it would mess up the story line if they skipped over Ezio continuing his quest in Rome. I really want him to obtain a retractable grappling hook device, caltrops, and a way to have the eagles flying around the Eagle Vision locations, attack enemies. Just a few things to make him more ninja-like.
