Second Mass Effect DLC Pack Now Available On Xbox Live

I placed was a small asterisk next to Electronic Arts' casual announcement of "something far-reaching from Mass Effect" in early 2011 during a financial call yesterday: maybe it was a mistake. Nothing Mass Effect-related was in EA's uncharacteristically detailed lineup for the next 12 months, but there was mention of a new Dragon Age game due to arrive between January and March 2011.

That would be quite the mistake, however. Thankfully, it wasn't one.

An EA spokesperson has just confirmed there was no confusion yesterday, and BioWare and EA are, indeed, cooking up something Mass Effect-related that will arrive sometime in early 2011.

"Both of those games [Mass Effect and Dragon Age] were referenced in our plans for the coming fiscal year," said the spokesperson.

Let your rampant and potentially misguided speculation...begin.

I hope Mass Effect 3 has a better shooting system. Big war coming, and it has a weak cover system. Them Reapers are gonna tear us a new one without better cover.

I have a new copy of ME1 (bought 6 months ago) printed on the front is the words "Bioware: A Division of EA, Microsoft Game Studios" So if they still are placing on the game microsoft game studio, then Microsoft still hold control of the game. In other words PS3 fanboys, go get a better PC or a 360 if you want Mass Effect, or will sony give up some more exclusives to the 360. Think about it for a few minutes.

Two options: either Mass Effect 3, but I really hope not, because although this game was perfect there are still some things that could improve. For instance, some more rpg elements. More pieces of armor, be able to customize armor in the rest of the characters like ME1, have more weapons with statistics (more powerful, less cadence of fire, things like that) I only need more weapons and more armor to customize. More patterns (why the hell there are only 2-3 patterns, I wan t more!!!). Is it perfect mass Effect 2? yes. Can it improve? Yes.

Second option: Expansion pack, prologue of Mass Effect 2. 2 years people, 2 yeras have passed since Mass Effect 1. How about being Ashley, Liara, Garrus and Wrex?

Either way, its a win win for me. Its gonna be great

They've got themselves a pretty happening license...I smell spin-off! Something you don't have to be Shepard, maybe...or maybe not have to be human...or it could just be a multi-plat release...My hopes rest on ME1 remake, but I know it's as far-fetched as a new sequel to Chrono Trigger...*sigh*

I doubt that Mass Effect will come to the PS3 imply because Microsoft owns some of the IP. Even if it is just the rights to the first one that is still enough for them to tie it up in court long enough to kill the project. In other words, Mass Effect will not come to a Sony console unless Microsoft consents and that's not going to happen unless Sony gives them something in return. So God of War will literally be announced multi-platform before Mass Effect can be played on the big black Juggernaut.

It's probably going to be a big expansion, like Awakening, just not sure how they'd do it though, because for awakening, you can import your character from Origins over, it's a 1 way ticket though, can't go back to playing Origins with it. Why I'm trying to hurry up a bit with Origins and have it beat by the time it's released (just finished all the main quests).

As much as I hate to say it, because I only have a 20GB, I'd much rather it be a huge DLC download with points, like 1500-2000 points and being like near 1 gig of memory, unless they find some way to swap your save game back and forth. The guy who mentioned having a expansion on a disc that is a prequel, sounds interesting, not sure what it would be about though, but I'm sure Bioware can think up something.

Add tons more side quests, places to explore, planets to land on to do things on, with fighting here and there, and I'd be happy with that.

Note: Sorry, but I can't understand for the life of me why it keeps saying I have profanity somewhere in my sentences, trying to narrow it down where it is..

Space combat....I'd really like to see that, but I don't really care for real time space combat though, give me turn based....or if the real time combat is done well...maybe make it the same as with ground combat, real time with the ability to pause..

Weird, can't seem to post, keeps telling me to refrain from profanity, but I've gone over it all 4 times and I have no profanity in my paragraphs...let's see if I can at least post this..

Why would anybody not want great games to be multi-platform? Why would any developer not want their game to be sold to as many people as possible?
Unless a game is made in house by Microsoft, Nintendo, or Sony their should be no reason for this.
If Microsoft is a major shareholder in the Mass Effect franchise wouldn't they make more money by letting it go Multi-platform?
As long as it does not negatively effect the game who cares!!!

I hope it isn't Mass Effect 3. I want Bioware to take their time with it, so it can be an awesome game. Until then, they can keep up at bay with Mass Effect 2 DLC's & Expansions.

I also hope the free Mass Effect 2 DLC's keep popping up along with the occasional paid ones.

I expect a side story/campaign via DLC and/or disc. It would be something that would be built into the existing events of ME2. Not necessarily after the game, but during, yet completely in a different direction plot-wise. Plus I am estimating a price around $20. Those are my realistic expectations; now onto the not so realistic.

I have been always intrigued since the first ME about the space combat. Especially when reading the in game codex. I even recall an interview from G4 during the first release of ME where the guy interviewing (forget who) asked about that. I was hooked on the idea since then. One can only hope. Again, not realistic but a space combat game based on ME would be exciting to me, especially for a console.

I really hope this is about ME going to the PS3. I think PS3 deserves it since the whole Final Fantasy incident.

if this is just an announcement of DLC, it had better be as large, or larger than GTA IV DLC and it better be larger than anything released for ME in the past. And I hope that 'far reaching' (if not indicating PS3 release) would mean that episodic contect impacts characters going forward in ME3. I wouldnt put it past EA to require this as it would force not just die hards, but the casual ME fan to purchase episodic DLC.

uhhh i see ps3 port talk again so il say this again.... ME is coowned by microsoft.... its no more likely to go to the ps3 then god of war is to go to the xbox... not saying i wouldnt approve of either one of those happening simply stating the probability of each is approximately 0
