I seem to be the only person in the office who hasn't finished Mass Effect 2, which is why it's convenient that BioShock 2 has decided to be released the week after, totally screwing with my free time. That's a long way of saying: we're going to be talking about BioShock 2 on Feedback this week, so don't ask any questions about BioShock 2! We've got it covered. That said, if you want to be Feedback's question of the week, it's time to head to the comments.

Halo 3 was an amazing game in alot of ways, but one of the standout features of the game was Forge and the Theater mode. Do you think that features like these will make their way into future first person shooters, and is this a feature you all think would be beneficial to be included in games? Halo 3 came out in 2007 and I've not yet seen similar features added to other titles, with Halo:Reach coming out do you think that Bungie will place this functionality into their newest title or do you believe it will fall by the wayside?

In your Bioshock 2 review, one of the negative aspects that you guys harped on was the lack of an interesting story. That, to me, is quite a departure from other reviews. Granted, it has happened over a few years and Mass Effect really pushed that aspect, but gameplay used to be the top selling point for a game, not the story. This is fine with me if we keep getting games that mix the two, such as ME 2 (which was brilliant), but do you think think that story or narrative will ever overshadow the gameplay or technical mechanics? I hear Heavy Rain has some technical flaws.
Also, I love Shadow of the Colossus, and it was one of the first games that I played where story and cinematics were in the forefront. Will we ever see a sequel? Please?

When It was announced that Bioshock 2 would be more action oriented, I was quite upset. Having played the game I admit I was more worried than I should have been. It was recently announced that Dead Space 2 will me more action oriented. Do you think that Visceral Games will pull it off like 2K Marin has, or are they making a mistake with Dead Space 2 by changing a Survival Horror franchise into an action shooter like Capcom did with Resident Evil 5?

I am a big fan of Fallout 3, i have put well over 100 hours into it trying to get every little thing, on the flip side i did not enjoy Left for dead that much because of how short it was, some would say i have OCD, i like to say i want to get my moneys worth. With the success of Mass Effect 2 and other huge games, do you think that developers should try and make games bigger to meet the demand in this economy?

hey sessler... Bioshock holds a special place in my heart and I loved the deep philosophical plot it had, so i just wanted to ask you guys... What role can games play in portraying intellectual thought and philosophy? Bioshock's take on Ayn Rand blew me away, because it played a bit like a political/phycological thriller. Overall i think we have seen very little of this explored in games, but it would be great if we could see more like Bioshock. What do you guys have to say about it? (I'm 4 hours into Bioshock 2 so try not to spoil anything)
Also... while i havn't been able to play alot of multiplayer, i really felt like bioshock 2's was tacked on and crappy. That might just be because I play MW2 alot but I'd like to hear other people's responces to it.

Arguably, the greatest works of art, literature, film and music are those born from a unique, individualistic vision. Conversely, those developed with mass approval, praise and commercial viability in mind tend to be passable or pleasant rather than mind-blowing and transcendent. With this in mind, do the panel agree or disagree that developer's drastically modifying systems and mechanics for sequels based on user feedback (and to appease those most vocal in their criticism) is the best method for game development? Are developer's allowing the mass consumer to become too powerful and at the expense of creativity and vision?

Fans will never be happy with what comes after. Fans are people caught in the past of a game that refuse to look into the future, I am a Fan of gaming but I'm no particular one game's FAN. Being tied down to one game is silly, almost as silly as being tied down to one system. Somewhere along the lines games stopped being about fun and started being more about entertainment and the experience they could offer. Anyone complaining about the Experience of Bioshock 2, well shut up you knew exactly what you were getting when you followed the game through development, saw the box art and played for the first ten minutes. I think people should be happy that a property like Bioshock has continued to expand outwards instead of upwards because really all Bioshock was and ever will be is a technological downgrade to steampunk from System Shock.

Will this adopted necessity to create a sequel to many well-received games, in terms of sales, continue into the future? Or will developers ever learn to leave well enough alone?

Just played through Bayonetta and, having marvelled at the vibrancy and imagination contain there-in, was wondering what the panel's thoughts were on Western videogame developer's (and core demographic's) obsession with realism, Star Trek sci-fi and Tolkien-ism as the preferred choice of aesthetic. Do you feel that this form of delivery limits Western games potential or defines and benefits it's output?

(In relation to Bioshock 2) Do you think that it is fair on 2K Marin that they should suffer such heavy criticism from their so called 'fans', when they complain that they should never have made a second Bioshock? I know they would have prefered to start a new IP but the point still stands. Some comments from this site and others have said that it reeks of 'cash-in' and 'half-assed multiplayer.' I think that this is very unfair as people have worked hard on this game for about 2 years now only to get it slated before most of these people even play it. What is your opinion?

so apparently a small group of followers here believe that a game needs to get a 5/5 to be considered good..even a 4/5 isnt good enough...i know you guys have talked about this and tried to get your point across till your blue in the face....where do you go from here? whats the next logical step? can logic even play a part in the discussion considering how illogical this small group seems to be? did i use the word logic too many times? is patricks hair a perm or just that magnificently naturally curly?

I owe much of my gaming life to titles like Chrono Trigger and the early installments of Final Fantasy. Today I am absolutely hooked on Mass Effect 2. It is easily the game I anticipated most ths year. I have no felt that kind of connection to a game sense Final Fantasy VII. Looking back I can see now that the traditional JRPG seems to be dead here in the United States. With the exception of Valkyria Chronicles, every JRPG I have picked up just didn't do anything for me. In your opinion has the western RPG killed the JRPG by focusing more on the player crafting the story and creating a more sincere role playing experience?

With the introduction and success of games like Bioshock, Borderlands, and Mass Effect 1 & 2, do you anticipate the dissolution of game genre lables?
If so, how will the gaming media and universal industry label those titles?

What is the fine line that exists between a game being inspired by another (like Shadow Complex with Super Metroid) and a game being a flat out copy (like Dante's Inferno with God of War)? Where does Darksiders fall into all of this? Is it innovative for combining so many different gameplay styles (God of War, Zelda, and Portal) or is it shameless? Isn't copying just par for the course with any successful game in a given genre (like any upcoming FPS with Modern Warfare)?

Come to think of it, I don't think I've ever seen a written review from Morgan Webb...
mordi
Ok, I'm new here so I don't know if you addressed this issue before.
I noticed that you have a panel of reviewers on Xplay and that Adam and Morgan don't do every review. Now I noticed that the VO is mostly done by Adam and Morgan so I can safely conclude that the VO was written by the reviewer. My question is, what happens when the opinions of Adam or Morgan are in contrast to those of the reviewer?

Why is the PC suddenly not recieving much love when it comes to proper testing before release? The last two big game releases that were multiplatform (and included the PC) -- Mass Effect 2 and Bioshock 2 ---- are both subject to crashing. While Mass Effect 2 wasn't very bad, and only occured once or twice.
Bioshock 2 crashes so much even on systems that are built with the capability to handle current-gen games at full graphics are unable to get very far in it without running into a crash.
So are we seeing a trend where the PC is suddenly more neglected than the rest of the spectrum of the other console games?

I heard that in order to lower the cost of Natal that it was repurposed to run off the 360's power rather than its own. Does this mean that the graphical quality of future games will be worse in comparison to many of the recently released titles?

Personally I feel that DLC is a win win for both gamers and developers. Gamers get extra content for their favorite games and developers get a little extra cash.
However, do you think Microsoft's recent decision to discontinue support for the original Xbox servers and DLC will have an affect on gamers willingness to purchase digital media for the current generation of systems? Should gamers be concerned with Microsoft's decision?
P.S. Patrick, a bowl of #$&% soup is a dish best served cold.

Do you feel the success of muiltiplayer has been a failure as well? Bioshock 2, as I read in your review and others, doesn't have a strong single-player as the first. Do you feel that because of the muiltiplayer element that added to it, has caused this? And do you see how other games could suffer because of this trend of adding muiltiplayer?
