For the eighth year running, PC mod-devoted website Moddb.com has handed out its awards for the best mods of 2009. And while it will be a few weeks before the site’s editors announced their pick for Mod of the Year, the site has revealed that MechWarrior: Living Legends has taken home the player’s choice award for best mod.
If you aren’t familiar with the mod, here’s a brief summary:
MechWarrior: Living Legends is a total conversion modification for Crysis. MWLL is at its very core a mix between a First Person Shooter and a Simulation…MWLL is using the concepts pioneered by the Battlefield franchise and more recently Crysis, of a sandbox feel where you get to play what you want and how you want it.
The mod bested other notable creations such as Star Wars Mod: Galactic Warfare, the Half-Life 2, puzzle-based mod Research and Development and the futuristic shooter NEOTOKYO. I’m not terribly familiar with the modding community, but I did see a number of the nominees pop up over the course of last year, and I was pretty much blown away whenever I came across one.
You can find the full list of nominees and winners over at Mod DB’s site. Last year's award went to the Battlefield 2 mod, Project Reality.
Did anyone here vote for this year’s awards? What was your favorite mod of 2009?
