Lego Star Wars III: The Clone Wars Announced

LucasArts and Traveler's Tales Games today announced the development of Lego Star Wars III: The Clone Wars. The game will be playable on the Wii, DS, PlayStation 3, PSP, PC and 360 -- so basically every format. Look for it this fall.

The game will feature all the characters from both seasons of The Clone Wars TV show, as well as appearances from "fan-favorite" characters from the movies. Hopefully that means Boba Fett and not Jar Jar Binks. You'll be able to play either as a Jedi or Separatist with new character abilities, such as "Squad command, Lightsaber slicing, Lightsaber jumps, long distance Jedi attacks and Grapple Tie-Ups."

That's not all, though. Lego Star Wars III: The Clone Wars will also feature "brand new battle modes, giving players unique, head-to-head combat and an upgraded level builder, allowing the creation of customized bases and in-game battlefields."

Personally, I loved the Lego Star Wars games -- the bright colors, the mindless brick smashing, the funny take on beloved characters -- but I couldn't "get into" Lego Indie. As for The Clone Wars, I dunno. I'm not super familiar with the series, but I'll give this game a go when it comes out. What do you think?

I like Clone Wars. Scew all ya'll that say different. It's probably the best cartoon on tv right now. The recent few episodes touching on the hypocrisy of jedi peacekeepers being generals in the war are great, and Cad Bane is my new favorite non-original trilogy character. Can't wait for this game

I had mentioned to my girlfriend a few months ago that it would be cool if they made this game. Now if only Nintendo would make the all-inclusive Pokemon game I came up with a couple years back, that would be awesome.

I havent really gotten into the show, not enough time really to sit down and watch it... but I'd play the game... I have Lego SW 1 and 2 for gamecube and both lego indy's for Wii, why not one more!

I like the TV series. It's great for mid range fans. Those who didn't have their childhoods crushed, etc., but are to young to "get" the OT. I think the Clone Wars give some awesome jedi action mixed with good stories and kid humor. The team does some great writing. (Profanity? are you referring to prequels, website?)

I think it would be better if we a combo of Lego star wars 1, 2, and 3. I mean unless you are a huge star wars fan like me, this game will not sell has has the others. Its got potential, but it lacking old favorites for people outside of its target audience. To sell well you must think outside of the target audience, and provide a game that even people that never seen star wars can enjoy.

Hell yeah. Not an Indie fan.. and even though I am a Batman fan playing Lego Batman still wasn't the same. It was sad that I was resigned to the possibility that playing Lego Harry Potter was the closest way to slightly recapture the fun that we around here had playing the Star Wars iterations. Even though its based on the craptastic Clone Wars.. its better than nothing. Hopefully they crank out a Marvel comics lego game.

As long as it's like Lego Star Wars and not Lego Indy 2, I will get this one.

You know, if I didn't know better I would think they're starting to milk this LEGO license...
