Metroid: Other M

The official Japanese website for Metroid: Other M launched this morning. It contains a quick Flash movie with the game's title, a silhouette of a woman (Samus?)  staring at a futuristic cityscape at sundown, some soothing piano melodies and a female voice speaking Japanese.

Apparently, the translation is: "This dream... It was like watching the video of a tragedy that already happened."

According to the site, Metroid: Other M is set for a Summer 2010 release in Japan. No word on a U.S. release date more specific than 2010.

Other M combines the classic side-scrolling 2D of old school Metroid games with 3D, and will offer a harder-edged take on the Metroid world than the previous game.

*Turns around on a free way, walking backwards. Backpack under my arm, with a sad look on my face. Puts thumb in the air looking for a ride.*

Actually we decimated two of their cities. Had they not been stubborn they wouldn't have had but one destroyed. I can say though, that if the game's developed there, it's already in Japanese and ready for release. Then they have to translate and localize the game. I can see how that would take a bit of time. I have no problem with it. It would be dumb to sit on a game that's ready for 3 or 4 months just to have a "worldwide launch."

Anyone else want to start boycotting games that get released in the US months after the Japan release??

I'm tired of getting treated like second class citizens... especially when more games are sold over here. At least come out on the same day!!

    so excited can't contain it.....

If all these games come out this year and are as good as they look I will be happier than I would have been in a long time

Team Ninja and nintendo look like they will be a great coupling the creativity and quality of nintendo plus the action and epicness of team ninja.

yesssssssssss!! one step closer to playing this game.im a huge metroid fan and this game has me super excited (a little worried too).i hope they dont screw us over with a later release date, all though its usually the case with metroid.i cant wait to see how they use adam and i hope they show the chozo training samus went through and why not maybe even some chozo dialogue.the metroid universe has so many questions that arent answered so hopefully this game will help fill some of the gaps. p.s.also there is a metroid manga u can read on line.

isnt metroid more popular in the us than it is in japan, i was thinking we might get the game at around the same time. but maybe it is just the prime series that is more popular here and this game does look more japanese than the other metroid games but that is good thing in my opinion, i thought the samus in the prime series looked a bit cartoony while the other m samus looks more like a real person and oh yeah she is freakin hot but dont worry miss samus ill still take you seriously, god this game cant come soon enough.

My God, seriously, if Nintendo pulls off this purported Metroid: Other M, Super Mario Galaxy 2, and a new Zelda... All for the Wii... All for this year... They will usher in a decade of new brilliance the likes of which have not been seen or experienced since the videogaming days of 1989. They are poised here to really command a market once again in one of the most fantastic come-from-behind darling-underdog stories of our era. If only Sega had a system out right now...
