If you fancy yourself a jim-dandy of a pill hurler, then 2K Sports has a challenge for you. Starting on March 2, gamers will be able to take part in 2K’s $1,000,000 Major League Baseball 2K10 contest, which will give the aforementioned sum of cash to the first person to pitch a perfect game in the latest PlayStation 3 and the Xbox 360 installment in the series.
The contest lasts until May 2, but I’m going to bet that someone does it within the first two weeks. Now before you start with all the, “Oh, I’ll just put it on Rookie, tweak the hell out of the AI, and $1,000,000 is mine!” talk, 2K has some requirements that you need to know about.
"To compete, gamers must play in MLB Today mode, select from any of the available matchups, and then choose the option to participate in the ‘Major League Baseball 2K10 contest' that will automatically default to the proper gameplay settings according to the official gameplay rules.”
There are also guidelines for video recording your spectacular achievement as well, so be sure to read the fine print if you plan on participating. And just to make the whole accomplishment all the more official, 2K has teamed up with video game record authority Twin Galaxies International, which means the winner will also earn a spot in the Guinness Book of World Records: Gamers Edition in addition to the cool million. Not bad for a day at the virtual ballpark, eh?
Oh, and it’s a brilliant way to get people to play your game. How many people are going to at least rent the game now that a $1 million is on the line? Granted, unless you have a PlayStation 3, baseball fans don’t have a choice in terms of which baseball game they play, but just think of all those people who would never have played the game in the first place who will now probably rent it just to see if they can pull it off? Also, I’m not saying 2K has rigged the game in some way, but for some reason the first thing that came to mind when I heard about this was a carnival game. “Step right up! Step right up! Just knock down all the bottles and the giant teddy bear is yours!” But that could just be because I love carnivals.
Anyone here planning to take on this challenge? Anyone thrown a perfect game in a baseball game before? How long do you think it will take for someone to win the $1 million?

Hahaha funny. The man who won this got the perfect game the day it came out, but 2k10 didn't wanna publicize it until a few months after (way to crush peoples dreams and wallets by not telling everyone 2k10) And comon people! Out of the thousands and thousands of people even attempting it the very first week, theres obviously going to be a winner already. It doesn't take a genius to figure that out T_T

Being a baseball fan and a 360 owner i am forced to buy this game EVERY YEAR. Pass the torch 2ksports your baseball games all suck, same crap EVERY YEAR! Just as well go and buy a PS3 and save myself from the disapointment EVERY YEAR! Where's my copy of MVP baseball, you can play regular Xbox games on 360, right? I hope this game fails miserably, so 2ksports loses the rights to making mlb games. Oh, and this million dollar offer isn't going to make people like your game. Shove it up ur ass!

Now that's cool, why not earn some hard earn cash with something you enjoy, videogames and if its sports in general, excellent but baseball, perfect.
Someone will earn that dough in a short amount of time and I know I ain't, I don't even got it.
Maybe 2K sports is not a consesus fave among some people so it may not fit their description but overall, people will get their hands on it no matter what.

I've thrown a couple no-no's in MLB 08 The Show, but never a perfect game. I always end up walking someone.

I'm pretty good at Wii baseball so that $1M is mine!

I pitched a no hitter in Bases Loaded for the NES, Yes I know I'm old.

I'm with you Jake, it'll last about 2 weeks. Somebody won't sleep for 14 hours in those 2 weeks until they do it. Granted it is an awesome promo. They should recoup their 1 mill pretty easily. At least 2k is a good title normally so your money spent won't be entirely lost on a bet.

Hey for a $1 million it's definitely worth a rent - who knows, you might just get a knack for throwing strikes.

No, I bet the odds are .01% and if you don't have a job and play non-stop for a week you'll get it eventually. It's like the monkeys with an infinite amount of time producing Shakespeare. If I get fired by March 2nd, sure, I'll go for it. Although, I bet someone does it in a ridiculously short amount of time like in WoW. First 48 hours I bet someone does it.

First off EA doesnt make MLB 2K10 so get your facts straight. 2K sports does.

When I saw $1 million, I thought of Advent Rising.

I'm guessing the chances of pitching a perfect game are 0.00%!! Otherwise they wouldn't have $1M on the line.

haha, nice try EA, Im still not buying your crappy game. I would probably be one out from a perfect game, only to have ball phase through players glove on a routine grounder...
