AIAS Announces Nominees; Uncharted 2 Leads Pack

The Academy of Interactive Arts and Sciences announced the nominees for the 13th Academy of Interactive Arts and Sciences awards. The big winner in terms of nominations: Uncharted 2: Among Thieves. The PS3 exclusive title was nominated for 15 awards, and there are only 27 categories all together, so Drake could walk home with more than half of the awards at the show. Assassin's Creed II was nominated for 10 awards, and Modern Warfare 2 and Batman: Arkham Asylum each were nominated nine times.

The winners will be announced at an awards ceremony to take place during the D.I.C.E. (Design, Innovate, Communicate, Entertain) Summit 2010, on February 18 at the Red Rock Resort in Las Vegas, with comedian, actor and gamer Jay Mohr returning for his fifth year as host.

While there are some choices on the full list of nominees I take issue with, overall, it actually seems pretty solid, and interesting.

FFFFF like what the hel uncharted 2 looks good, but the controls for it are terrible, i didn't see any changes from the first other than better graphics which i give it credit for.....but i wasted 60$ on a crap game thats getting nominated a bunch of awards that it doesn't deserve...W.T.F is going on with everyone........F if i want a third person shooter i would just get gears of war 2 which is a way better game than uncharted 2.....and the multiplayer is fun, but only for a few hours... then it gets boring as hell,....people Mw2 is worth 60$ not this garbage game which is worth 25$....

MW2 shouldn't be a GOTY nominee. Don't get me wrong I play the crap out of it but its disappoints in almost ever aspect. Co-op was short and easy, the campaign was short and easy with a stupid story and mp while alot of fun is a glitch and boost-fest.

Uncharted 2 is the front runner in every catagory its in. Yeah, it didn't reinvent the wheel but did alot of things better. Its bacisly a just another 3rd person shooter but its polished, looks great, has an awesome story, great voice acting, crazy level design(the train level is a huge step forward in level design), has good and fun puzzles, awesome mp and overall its a ton of fun to play. GOTY easily.

I predict Uncharted 2 walking away with at least 12 awards of out its 15 nominations. It was a well designed game with many innovations. However, I am surprised that Halo:ODST was not nominated for Outstanding Achievement in Original Music Composition (though the list does seem quite competitive).

I wouldn't mind seeing Batman: AA win a few awards for the simple fact that they finally proved you can actually make a quality game based on other media.

Would love to see Demon's Souls win, its not appreciated enough. For innovation Flower should be a automatic win. As great as many of the games are I think its coming down to Uncharted 2, nothing can really compare well Drake's Fortune can lol.
