The Soapbox has moved to Tuesdays! That's right people. The Sess will now be spitting his wisdom for you on Tuesdays instead of Wednesdays. That's one day earlier that you get to hear the pearls of wisdom from G4's Editor in Chief.

On to this week's subject. Bayonetta has been getting rave reviews from multiple gaming media outlets, and everyone seems to really enjoy it. Enter Adam Sessler who not only loved playing Bayonetta, but truly enjoyed every aspect of it. Not only is the combat frantic and fluid, but the art direction is beautiful, the characters are hilarious, and the story is reminiscent of a great, cheesy exploitation film. But don't take my word for it. Check out what Adam has to say about his favorite game of the moment, Bayonetta.

hey adam , now ive been watching xplay since its started and ive come to realize that ur opinions are really good and somewhat funny ( ie ur opinion on the kz2 mailbox friggin hilarious cuz i agree with you 100% ) anyways point is ive played bayonetta and beat it bosses are phenom and everything is great ...with one incy problem and or question i have. which is how in the great green hell did u stand the music.. lol drove me nuts im all about an openmind but man was it lame . so if u read this my question is did that music ruin the mood for you ? like it did i? i mean i know it was part of the feel of the game to be quirky and what not but wow haha . i know all games arent supposes to sound like dmc..or god of war but do you think that music was the best choice for the game? great episode by the way

Glad to hear some great positive word about Bayonetta. I've heard the gameplay has been great, and to ignore the story, but hearing all your praise for it, Adam, was a pleasant reminder that it's a really fun game.

I wonder if Morgan shares Sess's feelings about Bayonetta not being sexist and if she likes it as much.

After seeing Adam's comments on his views of Bayonetta I've decided to go and get a copy myself this coming Thursday. Sure the PS3 version ain't as good as the Xbox 360's but in Japan it pwns in sales. If Platinum Games ever made a sequel, they better model it for the PS3 first before converting to the Xbox 360!

I played the demo over the weekend, and I must say that I was blown away by what I'd experienced!! The visuals were amazing!! So much in fact, I had to pause the game a few times, just so my brain could catch up to what my eyes were seeing!! Very original story plot and characters!! I was expecting a very lazy and cheaply made knock off of Devil May Cry, and I'll be the first to admit, there were some small comparisons, but not many!! The fight enging is crazy, the moves and how they were excecuted was very cool!! Just the idea that She has these guns in her heels, and that the hero of the game is a girl isn't often done, but it is always a good look!! Overall for just a demo I was very impressed, and I'm looking foward to picking this game up!!

I honoestly tend to stay away from JRPGs. Devil may cry was enough for me and I really am not an FF fan either so I doubt this game would strike me. It's something I would borrow to try out not spen $60 on.

I say, to 3D fans, in due time.

Let us first have the current technology MASTERED before jumping to another new area.

Learn from Nintendo. Motion Control, great..... Motion Control Plus, should you even exist?

I mean really, master a technology before introducing it, and that's my two quarters. Why two quarters? Because now days, two pennies isn't enough.

great episode I totally agree with I played this game with my brothers and we all loved it. but i was the only one who actually liked the story. i don't know why people think is a bad story. really think about it it tells you all that u need to know who she is where she comes from what she is doing and all. is not that different from other games of that gender examples ninja gaiden and god of war. and i still hunger for more I really think it wil have a sequel(I'm crusing my fingers). character are really funny, and they all seem to fit so well in this crazy, sexy, action pack, fantasy world. and the gameplay is so amasing can't wait to play some more

Truly a game that deserves to be own.

I picked this game up for the PS3 and I have to agree with Adam 100%, this game has me coming back over and over. After every level there's something even more improbable happening or some great action sequence that I haven't seen in a long time. I love the game so much I actually don't mind the load times which would annoy me greatly in anything else, here's hoping they can do something about that even if it's a patch for optional install. The character is great and it really does remind me of DMC but not in a bad way just the over the top characters and nonsense story. Both Bayonetta and Dante seem like fighting merely because they know they look cool doing it. That's the depth of their character and it works.

I agree with a previous poster where did the absurd imagination in video games go? since when did every game have to always have probable outcomes or realistic characters. Don't get me wrong I love those type of games too as they are a great form of story telling and form a connection with the characters but heck you can do that with bayonetta the arrogance rubs off on you in the game you see her reaction to a large group of enemies or a huge boss and think well dang I better just end this quickly.

I do not see the sexism in the game because it is so absurd it even has my sister laughing and shaking her head when she sees it. They made Bayonetta more masculine than other video game characters I really see it as Dante being on one end of the spectrum and Bayonetta occupying the other in terms of extreme character stereotypes if you want to take it that far but this is all obviously in fun.

I am hoping they take these applications from Bayonetta and try to rework DMC the same way, not a carbon copy but it is time to change up the action a little bit

bayonetta is great. pleasant surprise for me as well. personally, im not a fan of the story, i think adam stated having a confusing story is not common in japanese games; for me every japanese game has a confusing story. either way good game, good soapbox.

The Shadow Remains Calm! When you remember the launch of DMC as much as I do, this type of gaming actually being good is a wonderful thing.

The demo was fun and the fighting was pretty cool, but no matter how good that game is, that HORRENDOUSLY AWFUL music COMPLETELY turned me off to it.
