Turn 10 Planning Project Natal Support For Future Forza Games

Forza Motorsport 3

Microsoft has already shown off Burnout using their motion-control technology, Project Natal, but it appears that Criterion Games’ arcade racer isn’t the only racing franchise gearing up for Natal.

According to a job listing discovered by Total Video Games, Forza Motorsport developer Turn 10 Studios is looking for a business development manager to "drive high quality game content for our Next Generation games including NATAL platform.”

Microsoft Games Studios looking to incorporate Natal support into a first-party developed franchise? Shocking, I know. The other notable part of the listing is the mention of "next generation.” Microsoft has recently said that it has no plans to introduce a new console for at least a few years, so clearly Microsoft is sticking firm to its assertion that Natal truly does represent the “next generation” of gaming, minus the new console, of course.

Natal-controlled racing games: burnout or stall?

Not surprising when you get the wheel option for the game, I think more control options is a good thing. Supporting it compared to just saying you have to use Natal, and Turn 10 would never do that, allows a wider audience to enjoy Forza or just virtual driving/racing.

I just hope that they give you the option to use natal or the controller. If they do not then I guess that is the end for forza.

Okay, I'm not in the greatest shape physically... (an out of shape gamer, shocking!) However, can you imagine holding your arms in the 10 & 2 position for the entire length of a gaming session? Seriously, how fun is THAT going to be?!?!? Go ahead, try it. Hold your arms out in front of you like you're grabbing a steering wheel. Now do that for five minutes, 10 minutes, 3 hours?
I don't know about you but, I can play a racing game for HOURS. Don't think I could do it with NATAL.

Hmmmm. Maybe that's a good thing? Nah!

I say its kind of in the middle

I really think it depends on the gamers opinion because many people uses the controller or the infamous racing wheel. I think it would be cool to try this out myself but I would continue to use the racing wheel because its more easier to race with.

I thought of this a week ago but it would be great with the Voice recognition to be able to use Natal to talk to your pit crew. like find out what position that Bugatti you passed 2 laps ago is in or the condition of your tires and other vital stat without hitting a button.

I really don't think natal is the next gen. i will buy it but i don't think I'm going to use it for games like forza, but don't knock them there just trying to make money from family s, even though i don't think family s will play forza together.

So imo, this will probably be teh biggest extent or "greatest" use of natal. I don't truly for see kiddies playing Bayoneta or Gears 3 using natal. so yea and i don't quite know enough about the ps3 version to really know how it will work or how it will be implemented, although i don't imagine GoW3 or MaG on it either. All in all Wii has the market on the motion control because they are not that hardcore, and hence can put out hte shovelware and not be criticized for it.
