The past decade in gaming featured some of the best games ever created, and X-Play is here to document that with this three-part look at the best that the aughts had to offer. Watch these videos and let us know if you agree or disagree with Adam and Morgan's assessment of the best of the 2000's. Is your favorite game represented in the list?
Here's Part One, including Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare, Fable II, Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic, and more.
In Part Two, we encounter Fallout 3, Bioshock, God of War, and other games that burned up our consoles and computers over the past ten years.
And, finally, we come to part three of our list, which includes the MMO juggernaut that is World of Warcraft, the action packed Orange Box, and the haunting Shadow of the Colossus.

Fable 2 was a joke.

This list is pretty good, but Super Smash Brothers Melee was without a doubt a better game than Rock Band 2.

This list is a bunch of special olympic awards for consoles "oooOoooh Halo 2" for the console multiplayer virgins of 2004. PC was doing multiplayer for a decade before that and doing it damn well. No one cares if you reinvent the wheel 10 years later. At the same time you left out Battlefield 1942 which actually INNOVATED the multiplayer FPS market. This list is trash.

No Nintendo games? Metroid Prime is easily one of the top games of the decade. Surely it's at least as good as Rock Band 2, right?

Wheres Socom 2?! It was the best online 3rd person shooter of its time!
Dynamo903
WoW was the best game of the decade hands down. That was a once in a lifetime expierence.

Shadow Of The Colossus Better Have Made, That Game Was The Sickest Game Ever When It Came Out

There are lots of good games but why is there so few ps2 games, they should have just made a list of like 25 or 50 games. And where is ffx my favourite gme ever, x-play staff is too bias towards jrpg's. Also for the amount of games they chose there are way to many 360 games and GOW2 is better than GOW1.

Far Cry. Have you forgotten?
The Emperor's Champion
Wow.... I own so many of those games.
BioShock
Fallout 3
Shadow Of The Colossus
Okami
God Of War
Team Fortress 2
Portal
Call Of Duty 4:Modern Warfare
Uncharted 2: Among Thieves
I think I'm doing pretty good.

I'm kinda shocked Silent Hill 2 (hands down THE scariest, creepiest, most atmospheric game ever made - the ONLY time a Video game has made me play it during the day) or something from the brilliant Prince of Persia, Sands of Time trilogy wasn't included.
Glad to see Okami made it (I love that game! Wish we got more gems like that); did they include Ico (I can't remember if they did, but they should have)?
Then again, keeping the list brief/incomplete does drive people to the site (and increase ad traffic) to put in their "two cents."

x play is pissing off more and more every day. the super smash bros series is by far the best series of any game. and they didn't even mention it. wtf is shadow of collossus i've never even heard of that game
Lacking_Fractal

I can see where they were going with this list. Every game mentioned changed the game in a significant way. Those of you who say that Zelda or Mario needs to be on the list don't get it: they didn't change anything. Shadow of the Colossus does have a semi-weak ending, but the story and the boss battles in that game are some of the biggest and most intense of any game ever. Bioshock changed the way you tell stories in games by not only making it about the narrative, but also about the entire mood of the game. RE4 and MGS3 reinvigorated older franchises and KOTR was truly the first Mass Effect-like game out there. I think GTA3 does need to be on the list, but I'll live without it.

No strategy games? Typical X-play.

Shadow was super over-rated. It's frame rate ran at an dismal rate and some of the Colossi and their solutions in the latter half were just bad.
I had a lot of fun playing the first half of the game. Then, I figured I should finish the game. Completely ruined my opinion of it.

Would have like to have seen Metroid Prime on that list, but other than that I agree.
