The week wouldn't be complete without another episode of Feedback, right? Don't worry, readers, we're happy to oblige. Adam Sessler, Abbie Heppe, newcomer Jake Gaskill and myself headed into the studio to discuss the week's events, debate how much Electronic Arts has managed to improve its bromance co-op series Army of Two with the sequel, Army of Two: The 40th Day, and more.

Feedback: Army Of Two: The 40th Day Edition »

In this week's Feedback...

  • I return from CES 2010 with news about the future of 3D in video games: it's overrated.
  • We reflect on the avalanche of game announcements and delays we've seen in the past two weeks, including Ubisoft's potentially controversial new Assassin's Creed...with multiplayer?
  • There's not much confidence that The Legend of Zelda for Wii is shipping in 2010, but that might be offset by Nintendo's decision to deliver Metroid: Other M before the year is up.
  • Irrational Games becomes 2K Boston becomes Irrational Games. The world is right again.
  • Find out if Army of Two: 40th Day is worth checking out, especially if you're going solo.
  • A reader asks a particularly juicy question about the validity of Hollywood film directors (like, say, James Cameron) becoming involved in video games and whether there's merit to it.

Feedback, talking trash about the products shown at CES since video games decided to leave.

is the question about Bonerjam a "meaty" question? lol

They can rape if they want to, or you can leave teh Russian behind. You can let her get raped or let her get him back but it, won't matter in time
    Yeeeeeeah
I have to agree now that the rape sequence was just random....
And how would a bonerjam work exactly?

lol abbie... the difference between shooting someone and EXECUTING THEM is that they have already surrendered by the time you EXECUTE them. therefore you are killing someone who is unarmed as opposed to someone who still would shoot at you.

i personally really like the morality choices - except that when you decide to spare someone you almost never get an upside. (lol it was awesome when the tiger ate the shoplifter tho)

Hmm...... For some reason i am falling in love with Abbie. Whats that all about? Is it her beautiful eyes? It maybe that she is just so adorable. Now to my point, I don't think Army of two is that awsome and I also don't think its worth buying especially if you don't have a lot of money but still waiting for titles like conviction, mass effect2, gow3, heavy rain and much more. The story is pathetic and the controls are very confusing. It still is an okay game with great co-op experience

I wish G4TV would add these interviews on the TV lineup, before X-Play.

where is the love for PC games involving assassins creed 2?

they delayed that shiz for 5 months after the console version was released!
    THIS IS MAJOR CRAP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
This has made me soo mad I might just pirate instead of pay for it, because of the lack
of respect Ubisoft has had for PC gamers and the money they expect me to drop on a product they said was going to come out on the same day as consoles.....
So Ubisoft, you have lost a customer

I think there is a good point that adding a Hollywood director doesn't equal a good game. One is to list all of the movies out there which are masterpieces but, It wouldn't necessarily be fun to play through as a game.

Also there are many games out there with minimal story, that are excellent. (Mario, Left 4 dead, Borderlands.)

The only universal component of what makes a good game that I can think of, is getting the game to do want you want, when you need it. The story, The visuals, and the rest are complementary to the mechanics.

Where do we send questions if we have them?

I think Abbie Heppe is pretty cool journalist, but all these comments about her on the forums just seems creepy and off putting. Have some dignity guys.

Abbie, I'll be your beer fetching robot. I can carry other stuff too. Like cheese snacks.

I volunteer to be Abbie's beer fetching robot. Forget the flimsy helicopter. I can carry 60 cans or 24 bottles in a single trip to the fridge. Where do I sign up?

With all this 3D technology I don't see the game industry taking off with it unless a game is made directly for it like movies do (but hopefully without the suck as well).
3D has been around for a long time but it's never taken off. It was made in what, the 80s? And 30 years later we have 3D televisions? There's no invovation. I would be much more interested in 3D if it was used better. Maybe you can reduce split screen cramping on my tv and bring my screen closer to me? Or perhaps pull me into a fps by making my HUD more alive and make me feel like I have the halo helmet or metroid headpiece on? Lasers flying past my head would be good 3D not...gears of war...

Do you think there a double standard for game studios? I love everything Rockstar Games makes but they can not show a game for 4 years and no one would be bothered by that i.e GTA 4, but when a smaller studio does it the quality of the game is questioned. Dark Void has been delayed twice and the game is put down but Grand Turismo 5 has been delayed for the past 72 years and people are still pumped for it.

lol God or War 3 anyone? the past two times you guys were talking about big games and sellers for the first quarter GOW slips your mind?... I'm not in any way hurt and this isn't a fanboy "mention my game" thing, I'm just surprised as its the biggest game on my radar, do you guys not feel the same way or what?

Another episode of Feedback that was quite enjoyable. I'm surprised you guys didn't mention much about the weapon customization options in Army of Two, as to lots of gamers thats a main draw. I'm curious if you guys thought it was as deep as it looked like it was, and if something like that would be a great fit to more shooter games?

I wouldn't call it resistance on the 3D either. I think what you guys are saying is just the facts. 3D isn't as practical as HD is, and HD isn't even the most practical application that we have used for a TV. Although the market pushes 3D, I really hope we get another Segway with it. Something that doesn't exactly sell all to well, and is just a novelty. Yet for those who appreciate it and think it enhances the experience, they can get that. Thus we can all co exist happily, and the products we like don't get tampered with for it. Oh and to WISCO, although 3D can be tacked onto anything, for a product to actually be enhanced by the 3D effect time and energy needs to go into what you are seeing actually pop out of the screen. Look at Patrick's comparison from Super Stardust HD, to Gears of War 2. Both were presented in 3D, but Super Stardusts effects seem to fit the 3D bill far better. The same goes for Avatar, the world was crafted and created so that 3D enhanced it. Would you say the same thing about a romantic comedy? Game developers would have to take that extra attention to produce elements of the game that worked in 3D, and enough of them so that it wasn't 20 minutes of enjoyable 3D and that is all. I would much rather prefer them taking the time to add the polish, and attention to detail that say a game like Uncharted 2 has. Just one mans opinion.

I think the only way Assassins multiplayer could ever work is by using the Burnout Paradise system, small matches up to 8 assassins completing 'challenges' and assassination races. Could work, but the bigger question is there really a need for multiplayer when your fundamentally going to be doing the same thing you've done for 30 hours previously, it could get stale fast.
