You'll have a chance to play Dark Void next week, but Capcom's high-flying new franchise was originally scheduled for last fall. Capcom decided to hold the game back, claiming time time would be used to further polish the game and let Dark Void launch in a less crowded market. Capcom did have a date picked out for Dark Void, however, but there was a problem: Halo 3: ODST.
"Dark Void was gonna be a fall [release] and truthfully, being candid, the date it was supposed to ship was the day [as] Halo 3: ODST," explained a laughing Christian Svensson, Capcom's VP of strategic planning and business development, during an interview at CES last week. "They're [Microsoft] like, 'ta-da, we're shipping, I don't know, I forget what it was, Sept. 27 or whatever' and we said 'okay, sounds like a perfect time to move Dark Void!"
Halo 3: ODST was released on Sept. 22.
Svensson moved Dark Void out of the shadow of Bungie's latest shooter, but Capcom's original statements about the delay weren't really far from the truth. The time did help the game.
"Truthfully, we put the extra couple months [to good use]," he said. "We did the PhysX integration on the PC side of things; some of that stuff was not necessarily going to be there at launch, now it is. We put that time to good use, for sure."
Dark Void launches next week on Xbox 360, PlayStation 3 and PC.

Gotta agree with capcom with all the halo fanboys out there it would be hard to compete with odst no matter which game is better.
about dark void though i was looking forward to it but after i played the demo my hype went down. i hope the real game comes off better but i did not like the demo. mainly due to the lack of story and i couldn't get the hang of flying.

bogus excuse. Thats NOT the statement Capcom released to it's stockholders. To their stockholders they said they were "writing off" Q4 2009, and are pushing back key titles to have a better Q1 2010.

I do have to agree this was a smart business move, besides Halo 3 ODST, Capcom would have had a hugeeeeee obstacle that being Modern Warfare2, The Avatar of the Video game Industry, plus with this delay Capcom had more time to add new things or fix bugs, its a win win for everyone

the flying in the demo just felt so slow like a when the hell am i going to get there feeling i dont know maybe a rental but probably not.

Hmm after playing the demo I have to say, its not a bad game. I like their innovation and direction the game itself is heading. However, the games controls needs a little more polishing, make it a little more tighter so you'll have a much smoother feel. Thats in flying and and ground combat. I like the unreal engine they are using, and you can see it has few elements from Gears of War. But like I said it needs more polishing to make this a very solid hit. At this stage im betting it'll get a 3 out of 4. But I tell you one thing... this is the game that "Iron Man" -SHOULD- have been!!

Darkvoid is a great game I just played the demo last week. Its awesome but I think it still was a good idea to delay the game to keep it away from the juggernaut that is halo can't wait to play it

Halo ODST was so not worth the 60$ and would've returned it to get dark void and get halo ODST at a later time
