Time to dash hopes that BioWare's Star Wars: The Old Republic would arrive in 2010. The studio has confirmed suspicions on their official message boards that Electronic Arts' unnamed MMO launching in spring 2011 that was mentioned yesterday is, in fact, Star Wars: The Old Republic.
"While we have not announced a specific date, we can confirm that we are targeting a spring 2011 release for Star Wars: The Old Republic," said community manager Sean Dahlberg in a brief statement. "We’ve got a lot of exciting updates and reveals planned throughout 2010, including the first-ever hands-on testing for the game. It’s not too late to sign up to be a game tester, so go to www.swtor.com/tester and sign up today. We can’t wait to share more about the game with you as we progress through the year, so make sure you stay tuned to the official website for details."
Bummer, but at least some fans will have a chance to play it in 2010!

I've been following everything possibly released from all sites on this game on almost an hourly basis for the past 3 months.
I am so sad to report. It's shaping up to be "Star Wows". If you like the idea of WOW with lightsabers and spoken dialog...then Whooo hooo! This will be the game for you. If you were hoping for a new revamped innovative combat system (sans Holy trinity) Like Bio-ware stated. My friends...I'm sorry to report...They mis-represented themselves in previous statements regarding combat. It is the same old song.

the longer it takes the better it's gonna be. It's hard to wait but i would rather have it hecka good then bad and soon.

Well I for one am glad about this announcement. I know it is a very odd thing to say, but, I do have my reasons.
#1 Bioware is an amazing developer. I love their work, from KOTOR to Mass Effect to Dragon Age, they are the best RPG studio around and I believe that they should take as long as they need to make this game as good as the rest of their games.
#2 There are a lot of new games coming out in 2010. God of War 3, Mass Effect 2, Bioshock 2. Just to name a few and these games will consume a lot of time for most players.
#3 Finally, Star Trek Online is about to be released. Since I don't have to worry about Star Wars Online this year it gives me time to really get into Star Trek this year and Star Wars next year.
So go ahead Bioware make us a game that will finally rival WOW we will wait for it because you know that it is going to be up to the standards that were set on RPGs by Bioware.

I was hopeing for a 2010 relrase date. But the more time that they get to put into it the better it well be. Final Fantasy XIII well be here soon.
Then after that I can go back to wow untill Star Wars comes out.
