Adult actor and crusty old porn guy Ron Jeremy has a bone to pick (get it??) with the video game industry. Mr. Jeremy faced off with Craig Gross, an anti-pornography media activist, at a CES debate last week and the two locked horns over porn's place in our lives. As you'd expect, the subject of children accessing adult material was raised, and Mr. Jeremy said: "We don't want kids to watch porn," but went on to say. "[Studies have] found that violent video games are much bigger a negative influence on kids."
Ouch! That's a low-blow, and a very debatable one -- I'm not sure what Ron Jeremy's sources are, but you can bet I'm digging to the bottom of this important issue.
Along with his opinions on gaming, the debate revealed that Jeremy is so tech-backward you have to contact him through a fax machine, or so alleges Mr. Gross.
I think Ron Jeremy is just mad because he looks like Mario, but doesn't get to star in popular and beloved video games -- See photo above. What do you think -- does Ron Jeremy have a point?

I totally agree; just looking at this old wrinkled has been does more damage than video games. Get a life; video games are made up so you can do in them what you can not do in real life.

Ron Jeremy's Opinion? What person cared to hear about his perspective on any social issue? You must have a boss that hates you AND has been a slow work day when you get any assignment that end with the name Ron Jeremy! If I received that assignment I would look at my boss and say "You really do hate me? I thought it was just an office rumor but you really hate me... despise me. Guess what I got a seven page fax to send you and the first page is a Capital F.".

Video games can ruin your marriage/relationships. I'm sure 75% of your significant others aren't happy that you game 4-6 hours a day.
Video games can cause suicides.
Can video games cause STDs? No, but if you're playing video games 6+ hours a day, you're probably not getting any and that IMO is far worse than getting a STD.

1 I haven't heard of anyone geting an STD while playing a video game even one with sex in it.
2 Sex is just the best thrill you will have next to playing your fav games.

I actually agree with him 100%. Now, I'm not one of those "games will ruin society and should never be played by anyone" wackos. But common sense would dictate that it's far less damaging for a child to accidentally see a sex scene, then to accidentally watch someone getting killed in a brutal way.
It all goes back to the craziness that it's okay to show dead, bloody bodies on the 6 o'clock news, but if one lady nipple is shown by accident at the VMAs, everyone goes nuts!

I'm pretty sure if you confronted a drug dealer selling crack to kids, his/her first response would be "violent video games are worse". Mr. Jeremy is using the time-honored tradition of "When Someone Is Attacking You, Bring Up a Hot-Button Issue to Confuse the Issue" that has been employed by politicians for years.

This reminds me of when Adam Sessler had a discussion with Jack Thompson over violent video games and saying that movies have the exact same problem. Thanks to Rons profession video games don't cause violence, cheating housewives cause violence.

Overall though, I'd have to agree that some of the porn out there is far-and-away worse for kids than any video game. 2 girls, 1 cup anyone? (I almost threw up in my mouth after typing that.)
