Mass Effect 2

We're just a few weeks out from Mass Effect 2, but at CES last week, BioWare was already chatting up plans for the third entry in the currently-proposed Mass Effect trilogy to IGN.

"We are already at work on Mass Effect 3," said Mass Effect 2 project director Casey Hudson about the next game. "'[We're] building the first bits of the story, putting that together."

Even though Mass Effect 3 will finish out the current story arc, the massive success of the franchise makes it seem unlikely that BioWare will be shelving the series anytime soon.

Im not a bit worried that thay have taken to mutch under thier wings. All the bioware games are being made by diffrent teams that work indipendent from eacother. Im just so freking impressed of how mutch soldid games thay are throwing out right now. Its insane!

No surprise at all. It was planned as a trilogy since the beginning. I just hope the DLC for ME2 is good and they make tons of it. Because while, Bring down the Sky was decent....Pinnacle Station was crap.

Hopefully Mass Effect 2 will do just as good if not better then the first one. So that BioWare can continue the series after the third game.

bioware never gives us letdowns and with the history of bad mmo's in the market (aion since they ruined it with ignoring engine crashes for an example) i can not wait to play bioware's since they go for 2 things, a game that works and a game that works well.

@Cryosphere - until Bioware shows themselves to be anything but capable of juggling said francises, I would give them the benefit of the doubt without skepticsm. They have done nothing to warrant disbelief.

Great to hear, but color me skeptical. Bioware is juggling development of ME2, some Dragon Age expansion/DLCthing, and their MMO. It makes me wonder if each game is getting the design and QA focus it should be.

This doesn't surprise me in the least. Mass Effect was a fantastic game and quite a success both critically and commercially. The ability to import your save game adds another layer of re-playability to an already meaty RPG. I would like decent DLC this time around, as what little we got in the last game seemed like an afterthought. Commander Shepherd's story should be finished properly in a trilogy, but just because that story is done doesn't not preclude other epic space struggles in such a fascinating universe. Mass Effect: WREX'S REVENGE!

Of course BioWare is already beginning work on Mass Effect 3. I bet most game companies do begin work on their next game just before their current one is released. BioWare is just more open with it. They have said that they were developing it as a trilogy from the beginning. And EA said they want to make it a franchise (I hope they don't.) BioWare wants to put as much time as possible in creating ME3. It's great to hear that they have the story in the works, but I'm just ready for Mass Effect 2 to be released.

Of course they are working on Mass Effect 3. They are done with Mass Effect 2. I really just hope the third installment lives up to the hype. Third installments usually are let downs. But I have faith in Bioware. Okay enough about Mass Effect 3, GIVE ME MASS EFFECT 2!!

This isn't really much of a surprise since Mass Effect was supposed to be a trilogy in the first place, but it is nice to know that they are working on it so soon. I can't wait to play Mass Effect 2 and 3 when it comes out. I'm sure they'll be great.
