ESPN let the cat out of the bag last week, but now it's official: Electronic Arts announced this morning that a new version of NBA Jam is headed to the Nintendo Wii.
EA promises to revive the franchise with "vintage NBA Jam gameplay, and all-new features that deliver a fresh new take on the game. Featuring the sights and sounds that fans of the franchise will instantly recognize, EA Sports NBA Jam mixes the old school with the new, to deliver a one-of-a-kind sports presentation on the Wii."
Along with the classic gameplay you probably remember, the new version of Jam will feature "true-to-life body types," updated physics, and "visible player emotion." It's a Wii exclusive and it's scheduled for release in 2010.
So, on a scale of one to 100, how excited are you for this game? I'm hovering around a 66. I have many fond memories of the original (Boom shaka-laka!), but on the other hand, it's for the Wii only! Couldn't we get a 360 version?

I was a huge NBA Jam fanatic and I love NBA street so I admit that I am a little excited to see how this turns out. I don't care about it being on the Wii I just hope it ends up being fun.

well im not getting this since the Wii is completely worthless

i would be happy with the original arcade version made available for download on live or psn...

Well I was really excited when I saw the headline but when they said they were updating it with better graphics and that stuff just excited now. I would much rather them keep it 2D and pixel graphics than new physics. Another reason that it is coming out on Wii is that as Gingerkid and 70% of other people on this thread has shown us it has the people that will accept the over-the-top gameplay and graphics that a EKG would rate as the worst game ever. But I guess kids these days just can't respect the legends.

Blast it, I was excited until they said they were updating it, much rather have had them keep it 2D and 32-bit graphics but more teams and more ways to play but still only 3 players. Anyway what's with the hate? Only me and two other people maybe three are happy...tisk, tisk, kids these days...

From downtown! Wild shot. Ugly shot.

Bring this to the PS3 and we got a deal.
And yes, ColWalaterKurtz7, Road Rash needs to come back. There's a long list of Genesis games (Earthworm Jim, Battletoads, Streets of Rage, Boogerman) that need to make a comeback.

If they're going to remake a game from the 90s they need to bring back Road Rash!

I may be a little upset if Obama is not a playable character.

At the most this game should be a $10 downloadable game on PSN or XBL but I guess EA feels the most gullible crowd willing to pay $60 for a franchise that was dead 15 years ago will be on the Wii

good for you wii.... good for you

How about I own a Wii and I would much rather have it on my XBOX

I kinda laughed when I first saw it reported on here, me and my sister had just talked about the game after watching a video of a college basketball game where some dude tried going for a dunk and shattered the glass that caused a 50 minute delay. in a scale of 1-100 I'd say I'm around 71 on how much I want it. Til then my wii remains to only be used for mario land 3, donkey kong, and house of the dead

You could poop on a blank disk and I would be more exicted to get my hands on that than I would this game.

Not excited because it is on the Wii. PSN or XBL download and I would buy.

I ain't as excited as how its turned out to be perceived. Maybe a 50/50 than anything else. Maybe it is because of the Wii but who knows, maybe they'll be able to ante up a bit and make it distinctive.
I agree, the PS3 or even the 360 could have been better predictors and projectiles to make this game. But who knows, we'll see what the Wii got its sleeves.

He's heating up. He's on fire!
I'm pretty pumped. I spent so many days with friends playing tourneys of NBA Jam on the Genesis. Those were the good days.
