Mark Hamill Was Never Asked To Voice A Star Wars Video Game

You'd think it'd be natural for LucasArts to ask Mark Hamill, aka Luke Skywalker, to be part of one of the many Star Wars video games that have been produced over the years. PC Zone recently spoke with the former member of the Force, however, and said it's never happened.

Post-Star Wars, Hamill has made a name for himself as a prominent voice actor. Most recently, Hamill returned to his popular Joker voice for the widely acclaimed Batman: Arkham Asylum.

"I've never been asked to do it," he said. "That's fine, though. If you're playing Luke the way he was in the films - from his late teens to mid-'20s - I've outgrown the role. In the story, Luke is so boy-next-door farm boy, it's like Dorothy in Oz. All the other characters that surround him are fantastic."

It's true, though. Hamill is 58-years-old now. No doubt he could still reprise the role of Luke Sykwalker in some capacity, but LucasArts may have missed their window at this point.

You can catch Hamill in his latest game role in THQ's new action-RPG Darksiders.

Watered down and which Batman toon did u watch? If not for the toon some would say the movies wouldn't have survived Clooney. Others have said the first series "The Animated" fromthe early 90's was the best interpretation of Batman period.
Hamil's voicing is great and Return of the JOker definitely gets your attention. Yeah JOker has to play it down cause it is a cartoon but how much do you need to appreciate the story. IN a post Identity Crisis world our expectations have become higher for more mature content material but the appreciation of the simple things helps get a younger audience into this world so that it survives. And the stories are still fun to watch and good in their content--which is what's most important.

Hey the only reason Mark Hamill played a watered down jocker is because it was a kids carton. Young kids wouldn't get the plot behind a darker more sisnister Joker. If they would have casted him in a more mature batman series then we wouldnt be debating right know.

Mark defined the Joker, everyone else is just following his lead. The same can be said for Kevin Conroy's Batman.

Im sorry to all you out there, but Kevin Michael Richards was the best joker of all time.
While Batman TAS was a decent show from the early 90's, the joker never really had that edge that he does now. I have seen all of Batman TAS, played arkham and enjoyed the joker from "The Batman" a lot more than i did marks.

This joker was edgy, had a deep voice when he was very angry and a hi pitched *squee* voice when he needed it. he tried to kill batman on almost all occasions, not just pull a prank and drag it out like marks did. And best of all. he was crazy. Marks wasnt crazy, he was just a childs cartoon clown sorta voice, and i can understand why they picked him, but i liked the darker version better...it reminded me of tim curry's take on the joker for the 2 episodes he recorded before they booted him for mark. Buy the special eddition full box set to hear it. from back in the early 90's, the joker you all grew up on almost had a attitude much like the joker from the dark knight before WB changed it for more kid friendly joker.

IMDB is sorta right. His voice was digitized (from the movie itself) for the 1983 Star Wars arcade game -- still one of the best vector games I ever played.

Mr. Hamill said many years ago that he never had any intention of revisiting the character after Return of the Jedi wrapped. Maybe LucasArts knew this and never bothered to contact him.

@tsiper29 Agree completely. I was so glad he (and many of the original cast of The Animated Series) came back for Arkham Asylum. Hopefully he'll return for the sequel, as well.
